The saga FLX starts from RM45k just to get 1.3L with twin airbags and ABS, no side curtain, no ESP, nothing much else for safety. At the level of Saga FLX’s specs, RM45k is seriously overpriced, tax being a major culprit. So yes, we can agree on tax is too damn high.

Owning a car is not just buying, maintenance is also necessary. Second hand cars are disadvantaged here with more wear and tear to take care of, and taking loans for second hand also costs higher interest.

Paying market price is the way to go. That’s fair. Lower initial commitment, lower risk of default. You use more fuel, you pay more, not get more subsidised instead.

Also, shouldn’t the billions collected before 2007 materialised into an improved public transport by now?
