other country put some high standard for manufacture to sell the car in their country. e.g: safety, polution, quality of car.
in boleh land we put standard in the price. structure.

Enforce those active and passive guidelines, will safe many lives no doubt, but it wont enrich some “preferred” cronies. The only way we are going to get those safety measures is when those “preferred” cronies can get their grubby fingers into the pie as well.

So the baseline one can be ordered with 2, 4 or 6 airbags, the CFE with 4 or 6. Of course it comes at a premium, and probably not many would go for it, but if they offer it at least some of the criticism would fade away and they can gauge if there is any demand on the market.

Other manufacturers don’t even offer 4 airbags on ANY of their cars, even if they charge 180k for them (only exception being the hybrids, which are probably JDM spec and fully imported. It would probably cost more to remove the airbags… otherwise they’d do it).

Any why is that so? Because the most successful cars are the most dangerous ones, even when for a similar price similar cars are offered that are better. And when surveys are done, safety is a very small concern. Why then would manufacturers offer all they can? It doesn’t help sales, but it costs more. A bodykit is more effective at driving sales, so that is what cars get.

Because people vote with their wallet. And the cars that do the best are the ones that have the least amount of safety features for the highest price (Toyota). Models that are better (also in terms of safety) are not very successful. Even when it is the same model, the car that is less safe (and more expensive) is more successful, because it looks a bit better.

So obviously other manufacturers follow suit, including Proton. In other countries a car with less than 6 airbags is not acceptable, even when it is legal (see Germany, where the Lada Niva is perfectly legal to be sold now despite having 0 airbags). People will just not buy it, unless there are extremely good reasons to buy the car.
