Mazda 6 sedan and wagon: live shots from Sydney

Mazda 6 sedan and wagon: live shots from Sydney

Of course, you’ve seen the all-new Mazda 6 before – first the sedan in Moscow, then the estate in Paris – but here are the two stylish D-segmenters together in a single venue, making their first Australian showing at AIMS 2012 in Sydney.

Buyers will be able to choose between 2.2 litre SkyActiv-D diesel (175 hp, 420 Nm) and 2.5 litre SkyActiv-G petrol (190 hp, 250 Nm) engines when the car hits showrooms down under in December. There’s stop-start, i-ACTIVSENSE safety aids and i-ELOOP regenerative braking. A six-speed auto is the only gearbox option, while wheels are either 17s or 19s depending on trim levels – details of which, along with pricing, will surface closer to launch.

On the other end of the Mazda stand sits the facelifted CX-9, which made its world debut here.

Yummy car, but wonder if the old uncles will relate to this design better or to the Honda & Toyotas?

          • Own both. Interior of CX-5 is much roomier than Mazda3. Most evident on the rear seat legroom.

Isn’t a Lo-Jack a GPS tracking devcie used by American car owners so that should their vehicle be stolen they can track it down as opposed to a description of online theft?

I believe Bermaz is taking orders now, due to appear earliest Dec or early next year. I myself waiting for a testdrive before deciding between this or the CX-5 :)

Where is the Interior shots? Heard from my boss who went to the Aussie motor show it’s beige in colour is it true?

Hi Jeffwhlim, yes the interior of the sedan is beige. Have added some photos – that’s the best I could do since the car was on a turntable and we were not allowed to walk on to it to get closer shots. The wagon was locked, but I believe it had a dark interior.

different country markets will have different specs/colour schemes etc. Malaysian spec CX-5 has black leather seats. Singapore luxury spec CX-5 has beige leather seats, and their standard spec CX-5 has black leather seats. Let’s see what Bermaz will be working out for us…

But the price is way too competitive against F30. what say you

  • Very beautiful front but same cannot be said for rear. Looks a bit Sonata-ish and what’s with the smoked out lower part of rear lamp? It looks hideous.

But overall, Mazda did redesign every part of the car’s aesthetics which is commendable on that, unlike toyota.
