MRT: Traffic Management Plan for SPRINT highway

mrt-stesen

MRT Corp has released a Traffic Management Plan for the SPRINT highway, announcing two closures beginning today: the leftmost lane on a 400 metre stretch PJ-bound in front of Bangsar Puteri Condo until June 12, 2013 for 24 hours daily, and the rightmost lane on a 600 metre stretch KL-bound in front of Victoria Station restaurant until January 2, 2013 from 12 am to 5 am daily (see map below).

The first closure will allow construction work over the monsoon drain, while the second is to facilitate utilities detection and piloting works.

Public relations and communications director Amir Mahmood Razak said the traffic management plan has been perused extensively to ensure minimal disruption to traffic. However, he said there would be times – when there are significant events going on in the city, for instance – when the amount of traffic would be higher.

The KL-bound leftmost lane on the SPRINT, from Bukit Kiara to Jalan Maarof junctions, is already currently closed between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm, and 9 pm and 6 am daily (until November 14, 2013).

Other MRT work locations as of now are Jalan Cheras (until the end of the year), Jalan Bukit Bintang (until February 2014) and access to Jalan Bulan from Jalan Bukit Bintang (closed until December 2016).

All these MRT works, make my customers Toyota lose RV because all the roads got potholes. Is MRT and Co going to compensate all Toyota customers?

For all projects, the intentions must be to improve the facilities and solve problems, and it must be well planned ahead, predicting or anticipating the problems/needs. Giving away contracts/sweets to oneself or friends should be the last motive that one can even be allowed to think of.

  • are there real specialist in MRT Corp? All they do is sit down in a room to plan how to suck rakyat money (eg. buy a screwdriver for RM1000000) and waste money RM5k/winner for contest on “why you need MRT?”
