First Renault ZOE delivered to French minister

After ordering one at the recent Paris motor show, French Minister of Industrial Recovery Arnaud Montebourg has been presented the keys to a Renault ZOE by Renault Group COO Carlos Tavares, becoming the first customer to take delivery of the EV ahead of its domestic launch next spring.

Launched globally at the Geneva motor show in March, the all-electric ZOE’s synchronous electric motor with rotor coil produces a peak 87 hp and 220 Nm of torque. It has a 210 km range – the highest among production mass market EVs.

“The first ZOE delivery is a vital step in Renault’s electric vehicle offensive, aimed at making zero-emission mobility affordable for the greatest number,” said Tavares. “The commitment of the government and Mr Montebourg, as confirmed today, is a decisive advantage for making France a robust cornerstone of electric vehicle development and serves to reinforce Renault’s position as a French champion on the international stage.”

In France, the ZOE qualifies for a €7,000 (RM28,000) government environmental bonus, bringing the starting price in France down to €13,700 (RM55,100) including VAT. Its domestic launch will be accompanied by the installation of public and private charging stations by the Ministry of Industrial Recovery.

The move is part of the ‘Plan Automobile’ announced by the French government in July, which provides for the installation of charging stations at government ministries and the inclusion of EVs in public fleets.

As of end October, Renault has put 16,600 EVs on European roads – more than any other company has sold on the Continent. At the end of last year, some 10,000 charging stations had been installed in Europe – the figure has now risen to approximately 15,000.

it’s funny how people thinks that ZOE car is really environmental friendly. .

It’s just moving the pollution somewhere else..
    How the batteries is made
    rare earth mining&processing
    end of life batteries disposal

and the charging is probably done by coal powered station which emits emission too..

    it’s just a marketing gimmick. .

Dont show your stupidity here .EV vehicles are environmentally friendly . YOu can see obviously that fumes from the vehicle exhausts are pollutants and toxic . Multiply that with millions of vehicles on the road and with rising petro price and you see the world with grim prognosis . So EV vehicles are the future . So go educate yourself will ya

I think u r the one who need education. Fossil fuel is still the main energy source to produce electricity. Then imagine how much energy lost during energy conversion & transmission before arriving to the consumrer. Until electricity is not available through sustainable means, what leehanvoon said is the ‘inconvenient truth’.

        Dude. U need an education.

Let me ask u.Where does an EV get its electricity from? Unfortunately, most of the electricity produced is from non-renewable sources.

Just like at one time, there was a craze about Hydrogen powered cars. Most ppl will say it produces nothing but water. So it must be good. However, let me ask you, where can we get pure hydrogen? Some said water. Well, water, similar to Co2, is not a fuel, but an ‘ash’.

So, my friend, the energy industry is bigger than just a car and its tailpipe emission.

look at it this way. Those powerplant that produces electricity, where are they located? is it in the middle of Paris? Or in the middle of Los Angeles? Those rare earth mines, is it in the middle of London?

Yes, these factories produces just as much pollution, but the thing is their factories are mostly far from the city. It doesn’t affect the air the people breathe as much as the exhaust emission from all the cars from the city. And cities that uses nuclear power, there’s barely any pollution. Lets not talk about radiation coz that’s a different story

oh i love u think positive. who is this leehanvon? hahaha…majority of power generation comes from LPG and coal not fuel…aiyoyo.

and do check TNB website. we have around 48% electricity surplus = not used. where should all the juice go? on your plate to be eaten?
