It is a well know fact that a 3 or 4 speed auto is extremely inefficient because one must rev a lot more in the early gears for proper pick-up. Higher revving means lesser fuel efficiency. However, I’m sure Kia had their reasons as to why they chose a 4 speed instead of a 5 speed or CVT transmission. Still, I am very glad that the car comes with 6 airbags ( rare for a B-segment car in Malaysia )and is also very well equipped overall. Anyway, let’s not judge the car based on figures alone, that’s just half the story. We’ll see if the sexy Rio is able to sell well in our market in due time.
