Infiniti offers this sneak peek of its upcoming Q50 sports sedan that’s set to debut on January 14 at NAIAS in Detroit. Under the company’s new naming convention, the Q50 takes over duties from the G series sedan.
The half a minute-long video presents a glimpse of the new car’s headlamp and ‘eyebrow’ DRL design, borrowed from the Etherea and LE concepts. Rather menacing, we think.
Reports speculate that the Q50 will be larger than the car it replaces, and that it will be whisked along by the existing 3.7 litre V6 engine as well as a four-pot unit sourced from development partner Mercedes-Benz (replacing the 2.5 litre V6 in select markets).
Infiniti recently announced its new model nomenclature: Q for sedan/coupe/convertible, QX for SUV/crossover – followed by a number that denotes the segment the vehicle is in rather than its engine size.

I hope that exhaust note is not fake, that’s one great engine sound
