Nissan considering selling Infiniti in Japan

Infiniti

Nissan is reportedly considering a move to finally introduce the Infiniti brand in Japan, with the debut coming as early as the next two years. The brand, introduced in the US in 1989, has never been marketed domestically.

There were plans for a Japanese debut in the mid-2000s, but this was shelved when a decision was made to focus instead on its existing sales networks. In 2008, another move was prevented by the global financial crisis that came about that year.

The brand’s president, Johan de Nysschen, made the announcement of the ongoing deliberation earlier this week. No details or the timing of the introduction were mentioned, but another report bandied the two-year timeframe, according to the Nikkei.

The company assembles its vehicles in Tochigi Prefecture and exports them abroad. If the move comes about, Infiniti will then join Lexus – which arrived in 2005 – in the domestic market.

the japanese are complaining lah. that is why, after 15 years sold only in overseas market, Lexus finally is available in Japan even though all models in the line up were actually available as Toyota

IS – altezza, GS – aristo, LS – Celsior, ES – Camry/WIndom, SC – Soarer, RX – Harrier

I just noticed that the logo looks like a person pressing both palms together.

yup.. thats why i choose mercedes.. eventhough i really like the infiniti FX… the brand presence is not strong especially the logo which is very similar to chery is a big let down… but i am quite happy been seeing more and more FX37 on the road from JB to Kuantan.. seems like sales doing pretty well .. great quality and perfomance for 400k+ for a brand new big SUV is a great bargain after all ..

A good news for Infiniti fans in Japan but… A bad news for Nissan Skyline fans. If Infiniti makes Q50 based on new Skyline platform, I’ll had to say: “R.I.P Nissan Skyline!” The Skyline series have been used since late 1950s, and if Infiniti are ready to sell Q50, it’s highly unlikely to replace the Skyline models.

My neighbour’s wife is driving the FX and there’s another G coupe slightly down the road from my house. So yeah, I’m basically seeing 2 Infiniti’s everyday.
