Volvo XC90 T5 Executive – new trim for the new year

XC90-T5-Executive

Yes, the Volvo XC90 is still around in its original form, but the old timer gets new trim for the new year. It is now sold as the XC90 T5 Executive, priced at RM368,888 on-the-road without insurance.

For that sum, you get stuff like leather seats, wood inlays, integrated booster cushions, ISOFIX and a 12-speaker sound system with Bluetooth, six-disc CD changer and AUX port.

The exterior is spruced up with chrome mirror covers, LED driving lights, a new front bumper bar and 19-inch “Galateia” wheels. The big SUV is available in four colours – Ice White, Ember Black, Electric Silver and Twilight Bronze, as seen here.

Under the hood is the familiar 2.5 litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine with 210 hp and 320 Nm, paired to a five-speed automatic. Saftey tech includes Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC), Roll Stability Control (RSC) and Rollover Protection System (ROPS), WHIPS (Whiplash Protection System), SIPS (Side Impact Protection System) and IC (Inflatable Curtain).

aw…the back seats look like the perfect place for an afternoon nap. Imagine travelling back to KL after a heavy lunch in Rawang, wouldn’t it be nice to catch a power nap in this car? zzz….

imagine the price of the fuel/petrol u have to pay..
this large metal is too heavy to move even with 2.5T..
      high FC..
      sluggish powerband…

    • True, they had some financial problems in 2010 or something and is now sold to a Chinese company, Geely I think. The all-new version will be out in 2014.

Whats the point of doing this? And it said that there will be new XC90 in 2014…. The first XC90 was produced in 2002 and this design was way to outdate…..

It’s a dated car and design. If I am Volvo Car management, I rather discontinue than just try to resuscitate a dead horse, which risk a brand devaluation exercise.
