Citroën DSX concept to debut at Auto Shanghai

ds5 1

Autobild reports that Citroën will preview a possible high-end SUV at Auto Shanghai (April 21 to 29) with the DSX concept. Based on the DS5 (pictured) platform, the DSX in production form should hit China early next year before being introduced in Europe late-2014.

The car could be 4.7 metres long (about the length of an Audi Q5) and could come with petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains. The report further states that only hybrid versions will have AWD available, and that they’re likely to be in the same vein as the diesel-electric DS5 HYbrid4.

Europe will get a diesel-hybrid version that will see PSA’s HDi 163 unit and an electric motor working together for a combined output of 200 hp, just like in the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4. China’s DSX should get a 1.6 litre THP with 240 hp. Autobild estimates the starting price in Europe to be around €39k (RM165k).

Naza Euro Motors is now the official Citroën distributor in Malaysia – it was last reported that a 3S outlet was expected to open its doors in the Klang Valley by end-February.

Dear Citroen: Why don’t you fix the DS5 first? A car with an indirect, detached steering (as it should be for a Citroen) and a sport suspension (as a Citroen shouldn’t have)? It’s weird. Either you want to be sporty, but that includes things as steering feel, OR you want to be comfortable, but that includes the ride quality. Big, expensive Citroens are known for having absolutely superior ride quality. Why is the DS5 then inferior to the C5?
Besides, Citroen had active suspension for a long time. The Xantia Activa cornered as good as a Lotus, while still giving a very smooth ride. Surely that tech has been improved. Just give the DS5 your famous Hydractive suspension system, and an EPS that can be adjusted depending on what the driver currently wants. Being detached or being involved. More headroom for rear passengers and you have a perfect premium car.

More interested in working at Citroen, lol. I’d like to fire whoever was responsible for the ride of the DS5.

        • Word has it that they are re-tuning the ride quality by year 2014, lets see how it goes. But on smooth road, car testers from UK have no issue with the ride quality.

The European car company that goes the Kia way.
But Kadajawi is right. They ruin the ride. Less comfy hard suspension and doesn’t have the feel like a Lotus.

Hyundai/Kia is going Citroën way so the ride probably be hard and no more comfortable
