Honda Brio MPV to be launched at this year’s IIMS?

More news from Indonesia, this time about upcoming Hondas. Jonfis Fandy, Honda Prospect Motor’s marketing and after sales director, has been quoted telling reporters that there will be two new Hondas making their world premiere at this year’s Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in September.

One is a small city car, and the other an MPV. The latter is big news in Indonesia, where the MPV is king. The Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia twins are extremely popular, and Suzuki has launched its Ertiga MPV to fight the duo. Mazda’s rebadged Ertiga, the VX-1, will be launched this year, alongside the Chevrolet Spin.

Jonfis added that the new MPV is designed in Indonesia and sits on an existing platform. It won’t replace the Honda Freed, but will be positioned below the current MPV. All the clues fit the bill of a Brio-based MPV that we already know Honda is working on. Codenamed 2NH, the “Honda Brio MPV” will be made at Honda’s new RM1.05 billion plant in Karawang Industrial Park, Jakarta.

Originally a compact five-door hatchback, the Honda Brio has since spawned a sedan called Brio Amaze. Full gallery of the booted Brio here.

Indonesia is definitely up and coming, including IT, codings better than India, not so messy, that was what I heard lately, good luck if we still keep doing the protectionism game in this global world

Kangoo can do. The first gen Kangoo had 3 rows in less than 4 meters, and the 3rd row is more comfortable than the Touran and Alza 3rd row. Better seating position. Also there is more space for luggage with 7 passengers.

“the “Honda Brio MPV” will be made at Honda’s new RM1.05 billion plant in Karawang Industrial Park, Jakarta.”

Correction, Karawang is a city in West Java, not Jakarta’s industrial park, There are five to eight Industrial estates/cities in Karawang, many of them are occupied by Japanese investors, such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, Daihatsu, etc.
