Volkswagen Golf CC rendered, to surface in 2015

Volkswagen Golf CC

Reports indicate Volkswagen is developing a four-door coupe version of the Mk7 Golf to take on the new Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, and that it could be called the Volkswagen Golf CC.

According to Auto Express, the car will be sportier and more stylish than the Volkswagen Jetta (alongside which it will be sold), and has the US and China as its main target markets. It says UK prices should start from around £19k (RM89k).

A CC-like sloping roofline is a given, and the British publication adds that the new car will have a hatchback tailgate instead of a conventional boot lid. Boot capacity is said to be between the Golf‘s 380 litres and the Jetta‘s 527.

The four-door coupe will take a slightly stretched MQB platform (also for Volkswagen Golf Estate and Audi A3 sedan) as its backbone, and so should share the Mk7 Golf‘s engine menu.

It’ll only borrow the more powerful ones, though – we can expect the 120 hp 1.4 litre TSI as the minimum, and there should also be a diesel in the line-up. A GTI version should arrive shortly after the standard car’s introduction, set for 2015.

Lately we’ve been playing quite a lot of Golf – with the GTI, GTD and e-Golf in Geneva, and at home too, with the oto.my ad offering indicative pricing for the Mk7 and the JPJ car park spyshots.
