Jaguar XF and XJ with 2.0 Ti, 2.2 Td, 3.0 SC V6 engines introduced; XKR-S joins Malaysian line-up

jaguar xf xj

Sisma Auto has updated its Jaguar line-up in Malaysia, chief among which is the introduction of new entry-level 2.0 litre-engined variants of the Jaguar XF and XJ, priced at RM388,888 and RM598,888 respectively.

The XF and XJ can now also be had with the new 3.0 supercharged V6; these two are priced at RM588,888 and RM838,888 respectively. The XF gets the 2.2 four-cylinder turbodiesel added to its range (RM398,888), while the 550 PS, 300 km/h XKR-S also enters the scene at RM1,288,888 (Coupe) and RM1,348,888 million (Convertible).

The engine in the spotlight is the 2.0 Ti, an all-aluminium turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit (also found in the Range Rover Evoque) that delivers up to 240 PS and 340 Nm of torque. The mill replaces the naturally-aspirated 3.0 litre V6, which in comparison offered 238 PS and 293 Nm of torque. Moreover, all Coventry cats in the local line-up now get an eight-speed ZF auto gearbox (except the XK range, which soldiers on with the familiar six-speeder).

Jaguar 07

Now the least expensive model in Jaguar Malaysia’s current range, the Jaguar XF 2.0 Ti gets from 0-100 km/h in under eight seconds and ploughs on towards a 240 km/h top speed, while combined fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are rated at 8.9 litres per 100 km and 207 grams per km respectively. 18-inch rims are standard fitment.

It continues to be stacked with goodies such as shift paddles, DSC, bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRLs and tail lamps, keyless operation, dual-zone climate control and a seven-inch touchscreen system with navigation, Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity.

The Jaguar XJ 2.0 Ti does the century sprint in 7.5 seconds and tops out at 241 km/h – making it actually faster than the XF 2.0 Ti. We’re told both cars weigh the same at 1.66 tonnes (most of it down to the XJ’s lightweight all-aluminium structure), but the bigger car has a different engine mapping. The luxury car sits on 19-inch wheels as standard, and can return 9.3 litres per 100 km while emitting 216 grams of CO2 per km.

Jaguar 02

Being an XJ, it gets all that the XF has, plus quad-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof with electric blinds and a Virtual Instrument Panel. However, it does without toys like rear seat entertainment, the 825W Meridian sound system, seat ventilation, massage seats and adaptive front lighting, which are found on higher trim levels.

Now, on to the 3.0 SC V6-engined XF and XJ. Both are kitted out in Premium Luxury trim, and therefore sit at the second-highest in their respective ranges. The engine produces 340 PS and 450 Nm of torque, accelerating both cars to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds before hitting the electronic buffers at 250 km/h. Combined efficiency (9.6 litres per 100 km) and CO2 emissions (224 grams per km) are also shared by both.

Finally, the XF 2.2 Td has 200 PS and 450 Nm of torque at its disposal (this engine exists in two states of tune; we get the higher-powered version), resulting in a century sprint time of 8.5 seconds and a top whack of 225 km/h. It can return 5.1 litres per 100 km and emits 135 grams of CO2 per km.

Jaguar 11

In terms of safety, both the XF and XJ have eight airbags, with two-stage deployment for the driver and front passenger. There’s also Jaguar’s Pedestrian Contact Sensing System, which raises the bonnet slightly if it detects contact with a pedestrian in order to prevent their head from hitting hard points under the bonnet.

What about the F-Type sports car? Yes, it should be coming sometime this year. Sisma Auto has revealed indicative prices of RM888,888 for the base model, RM988,888 for the V6 S and RM1.1 million for the V8 S.

A three-year or 100,000 km comprehensive warranty, three years’ service and maintenance as well as three years’ roadside assistance is offered across the model range.

Couple of months/years down the road, JAG will add a small electric motor somewhere between the 2l engine and gearbox.

      RM288k it will be.

Sisma is a disgrace. For such a premium brand, they only have 1 service centre in Glenmarie. That also, no proper seating area. Yes, no place to sit. You just stand there like a pariah looking at your car. Coffee machine does not work at all. Shockingly, no water also. They have zero regard for the customer. The problem is, all those who send their cars in are done by their drivers. And these drivers don’t mind standing there doing nothing. I hope Jaguar UK pulls Sisma as their authorised dealers. Please learn from brands like Toyota and Honda, the least you must give your customers waiting for service is water and a place to sit!

Jaguar organised some launch & photoshoot event at Sepang if I am not mistaken since 5/3/2013 for all these models.

On another note, isn’t the 240ps/340Nm engine in the XF also the same as in the Ford Mondeo/S-Max 240? Ford used to own Jaguar Land Rover right?…

I think car prices in Mesia should be expressed in logarithm form since the numbers are usually huge. Those who studied add maths would know. So, RM lg(1,000,000) is RM6 only….cheap. Hehe.

Sweet car and sweet price, as it is not bronze at gold price like what someone tries to do.

  • Nice, but I’d rather have a Maserati at those prices. More flair and brand image for the money. Not to mention the awesome sound!

  • With the A6 hybrid here, the XF may be hard to put a verdict on, not sure the most buyers will overcome the price, even with that look. But the XJ, with that look and prescence all for a tinge below RM600k is quite a tempting German alternative.

XF has been around from 2008, i think. i believe it is due for change. besides, it was based on S-Type platform so expect a totally new engineered car in 2-3 yrs time, maybe even sooner.
