The order books have opened for the Peugeot 208, which will be launched in Malaysia next month. The company made the announcement on its Facebook page recently.
There’s no specific info about the car, but sales flyers give us a hint of what to expect. Apparently, the hatch – which was spotted in both three- and five-door forms undergoing type approval at JPJ Putrajaya recently – will come in a 120 hp 1.6 VTi normally-aspirated form.
Specs will include an interactive HD touchscreen and an Arkamys-equipped audio system, and for safety kit, ESP and six airbags among other things. Five external body colours are listed – white, black, red, blue and blossom red.

I think blossom red is actually pink, perfect for gay boy
i’m gay and i like this car so much…but i like a black colour
Weird gay
Or he might be just meant that he is HAPPY for such looking car?
**Good looking**
Yeaa..Only for mid-class gay boy. The lower income will pick Myvi and Satria Neo anyway.
i hate gay like you..XD
Pink is perfect for me :)
Don like the smiley face of the front! up stare u’r right.
Price??
may i know the price tag? for sure cheaper than the mk7 golf.
compared to mk7 golf?
how to compare with the missing prince engine… =)
208 vs Golf Mk7 is not an apple to apple comparison, bro.
should be lower than both golf and polo.
90-100k.
Should be compared to VW UP or Myvi.
Anyone wanna take a guess how much this will cost? If the pricing can rival the likes of the new CKD Swift that would be good. Just under RM70k would be right about nice but of course if it can be lowered I would be much happier lol
Any indication if the 2 door version is coming over too?
Oops my bad the price is RM90k =(
it’s all in the story above.
Good, ESP + 6 airbags for a car below RM80k as estimated.
nape kete baru smpi malaysia mesti kena test kat jpj?
standard kita tnggi sgt ke? test tu mesti kena byar plak tu.
best sape jd test driver jpj
oh boy oh boy.. 90k for this car? must be kidding!

Peugeot 208 for RM 90k? I will wait for Suzuki Swift Sport.
208 CBU
1.6 engine
There is actually a Ford Fiesta 1.4 model @ 67K.
Most of the people ride the hype with Ford Fiesta’s Powershift transmission and forgot the conventional manual transmission with smaller engine.
Don’t bash me because I am a conventional manual transmission freak.
you will need ron97 for the swift sport. if you’re ok with that, then go ahead.
That’s old Swift Sport… New one not sure can use RON95 or not…. But i think can coz min requirement is RON95… I want power better use 97 though…
This has to be a CBU model.
power to weight ratio is indeed great with 120 ponies but pricing not so.
price-to-power-to-weight-ratio?
Person A:
Wah look, Perodua still selling the old stock Myvi? Why the number plate is WYE?
Person B:
No la, it is the new Peugeot 208
Person A:
Pffftttt…
this car looks so gay
should be below 90k, the 3 door one look really good
1.6 na paired with 4spd ZF torque converter auto box?
oh ya, 2 door models are on 205/45/R17
while 4 door ones are on 195/55/R16
Price around RM90k.
Don’t go make your booking…if no / less demand, Naza / Nasim might consider lowering the price. Just wait…
by the way, they have not done it before so, hard chance of seeing that happen.
why u guys think this gay looks so gay? if so wat car u think is lesbian?
i think they meant the colourlah (the blossom thingy) but then there are other more masculine colours as well.
It is called Passion Silver now.
because they all are driving mustangs and hummers.
In their minds.
90k is too much. Price should be around ford fiesta 1.6
Fiesta S only has 2 airbags. Need to go for beta or sapphire, and they are around 90k. 65k LX has 7 airbags, but smaller engine and manual. No body kit, etc.
90k?? pffttt..
Wa, really like buy sayur now, is there really so many rich people around?
90k for this car ? Might as well go jump off a cliff. How come can this car be more expensive than Fiesta ? In the UK this car is priced much more similar to the Fiesta. EPIC FAIL la if it is priced at 90k region. If 80k still tolerable since Peugeot has bad resale value. Even the 308 turbo (year 2009) found to be valued around RM75k. It’s insane if they price it at 90k
Thks bro’s, u price it right. Below 80K..
If really 90k its too expensive.
Its just too small. And with peugeot branding, ppl wont just buy the idea even if they throw with lots of gadget.Rather throw money in rio even tho i don like the brand either.
Unknown Source:
5 doors 1.2 70+k
3 doors 1.6 90+k
3-door 1.6? (Most) Malaysians prefer 5-door.. More practical, they said…
Well, at least the customers have a choice.
Why this french hatch goes to 90k++ ? Because we are living in a country where we buy cars with 2x of its original price.
Still better than a locally assembled hybrid hatch which they have to remove a lot of accessories to make it RM5k cheaper than the CBU
Pls pls pls bring in the hottest version with 6spd manual… thanks
At RM90 it’s clsoe to 308 already..
totally can’t understand Nasim pricing nowaday.. they start to think that it’s time to rip-off buyer since they already have the ‘trust’ and control of the auto market..
Honestly for this 1.6l award-winning car I think the car should be pricing around RM80K-RM85K. Based on other similar category.. i don’t think it’s should below 80K unless if Nasim bring the 1.2 or 1.4 litre engine..
The monthly payment would be around RM1.5k if the car price is RM90k (5 years loan, assuming 2.5% interest, 90% loan). In the end most Malaysian can only afford Proton or Perodua only. Sigh.
Price-wise, I think RM90k sound steep. RM85k sound fair. RM80k is value for money. Anything lower than RM80k, then its a steal.
As a comparison, Fiesta S 1.6 start at RM85k otr. Beta is RM93k otr and sapphire xtr is RM91k otr. And its cbu thai, right?
So its great if 208 could start at rm85k otr too since 208 is cbu france (tax is higher than fiesta).
Another euro-based competitor, i.e. cbu from EU, VW Polo, has out-of-this-world price tag of RM113,888 and that’s not inclusive of insurance, which if added, will get us to around RM116,000.
This is RM31,000 more than the baseline Fiesta S price.
So apple-to-apple, any CBU Europe car in the same segment should be priced quite similar. Which should be the case of direct competitors like 208 and polo.
Since both are cbu from Europe (pardon if Polo is from South Africa or Mexico, but tax % is still similar), if Nasim sell the 208 at RM85K otr, they are actually asking RM31,000 less for basically the same car that should be priced less than RM5,000 against each other.
I’m quite confident they can price it just below the RM90K mark, but who know nasim might get the 208 at cheap price from peugeot. They are facing huge problem (sales decline) in europe n might be desperate to generate sales elsewhere. If Nasim did get the 208 at cheaper cost, Nasim could pass the discount or portion of it to buyer by lowering the price tag .
From another angle, 208 could be price between RM10-15k cheaper than 308vti (RM103K otr).
So between RM88-93k otr.
Perhaps it is best to forget dreaming of affordable Peugeot models already. For affordable, just get anything below RM80k. Peugeot is moving the brand upwards as it seems and for those who can’t move with the brand positioning, perhaps is best to look at cheaper alternatives. You can rant all you want, it won’t make a difference. Try ranting about other brands as well… has it resulted in any change in price or positioning downwards?… in Malaysia anyway?
