Jaguar XJR to debut at 2013 New York Show – 550 PS

Jaguar-XJR

This is the first official image of the new Jaguar XJR that will make its global debut at the upcoming 2013 New York International Automobile Show. The high-performance XJR is the “dynamic flagship” of Jaguar’s XJ range, which battles German limo rivals S-Class, 7-Series and A8.

Not much details at this point, except for the fact that the XJR will be powered by a 5.0 litre supercharged V8 engine with 550 PS. The new XJR, which will be the most focused, agile and responsive XJ ever made – according to Jaguar – will have a bespoke chassis and aerodynamic developments. “Supercar performance” is what Jaguar promises.

“The new XJR epitomises the three pillars of technology, performance and contemporary design which the Jaguar brand stands for in the 21st century, while delivering new levels of dynamic ability in a luxury saloon,” said Adrian Hallmark, global brand director at Jaguar.

Closer to home, Sisma Auto recently updated the Malaysian Jaguar line-up with the marque’s latest engines, including a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit for the XF and XJ. The Coventry-based carmaker’s latest hit, the sexy F-Type roadster, also paid our country a visit earlier this month. Click here to read all about that one.

The XJ somehow always looks like a class higher than those S-klasse, 7-er, A8 and LS.

Yes, for sedan, Jag and Merc, just like RR and Bentley(both are one class higher).
And for SUV, it is X6 and Range Rover.
Only RR sits above sportscars, in the eyes of most Malaysians.

If you are Sultan or a great person with strong pockets, you will want RR in your garage, that is the dream of every orang besar. For a lot of above-average persons, S-class, X6, Porsche, Range Rover and Beetle altogether are good enough.

Its okey if you can afford this but what upsets me is that our Malaysian buyers who buy 5.0 or 6.0 cheat on their road tax. They use Sabah/Sarawak road tax. By doing this, they only pay RM4000 instead of RM16,000.

How can rich people with millions cheat like this?

  • When I think of the Jaguar brand, the image of running tiger at the front hood always flashes in my mind.
But i guess with the current trend, it looked too old fashioned
