Teaser video previews the upcoming Audi A3 Sedan

The fact that the Audi A3 will be made in sedan form has never been kept as a secret. Two so-called ‘technical studies’ of the Audi A3 Sedan have been shown in 2011, first as a high-performance show car and then an e-tron electric concept. Now, the company has released a short video teaser of the upcoming model ahead of its online unveiling on March 27.

The clip doesn’t show much at all, just a quick peek at the car’s rear seats and then the full car covered under a white sheet. You can just about see the car’s sleek profile and short rear end, giving it more of a four-door coupe look than a traditional three-box sedan. Is Audi planning to pitch it against Mercedes-Benz’s sporty CLA?

That would make a lot of sense, as there isn’t a rival for a standard sedan-bodied vehicle of the same size and class among competing brands. On the other hand, perhaps Audi is targeting more traditional markets such as China and America, where buyers prefer sedans over hatchbacks.

Nothing else is known about the new model, but expect it to have a front end that closely resembles the current A3’s, with a cabin close to that of the five-door Sportback variant. As for future performance models, that will likely to share the S3’s 300 hp powerplant.

I hope this site will publish news more on these cars : audi, bmw, volvo, merc, ferrari, lambo and so on because these kind of cars are very very affordable for Malaysians. We don’t drive cheapo cars like honda, toyota, mitsu and nissan.

Quite funny. Audi and VW are same company but Audi got no gearbox problem but VW always got DSG gearbox rosak.

Is it because the consider VW lower in status and give it low quality gearboxes?

Is Audi A4 not enough? Maybe good effort for Audi to go downmarket…

When it comes to design, Audis are not that hard to predict, they always took the conservative, ‘play safe’ approach.

My guess is the A3 sedan will look like a shrunken A4, which the A4 looked like a smaller version A6, where the A6 looked like a smaller version of the A8… You get the drift.

Yeah, a great car is coming. I bet its going to benefits a handful of people only. For the man on the streets like me, its going to cause a cancer to my wallet. No matter how cheap its sold overseas, its still going to cost cancer to my wallet when it arrives.

  • Hope this price below 200 k since it is a sedan and not a coupe. I guess the 180 hp from the 1.8 unit should be potent enough for our market with the possibility of tuning it to a higher state of tune. I think this will be a good sale if priced below 200 k.

I don’t think Audi Malaysia can price it below RM200k coz their A1 model is already at RM180k. Pricing it right at the RM200-210k would be most sensible although I’m hoping it will be lower la haha. Around that price….wait 1 year for demo units to retail under RM200k would be good.

If this is going against the CLA then I think Audi Malaysia will have a fighting chance. I highly doubt Mercedes Benz Malaysia will price their CLA below the B200 which is priced @ RM220k
