Chevrolet Tru 140S concept shows up in Bangkok

Chevrolet Tru 140S concept

Most of the concepts in attendance at the Bangkok motor show are those that have been previously shown at other venues, but the Chevrolet Tru 140S is among the most recent, having made its debut only in January at the Detroit show.

Chevy is targeting the youth market with this one, and we can tell – the Cruze-based four-seater coupe concept boasts very muscular proportions, with striking elements such as matte white paint, a sharply dipping and rising shoulder line, twin central tailpipes, aggressive face and those glitzy 21-inch wheels with crossflag emblems. That cab-forward design almost makes it look mid-engined, too.

150 hp and 200 Nm of torque come from the Cruze’s 1.4 litre Ecotec four-cylinder, which is mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed auto ‘box. Should the Tru 140S become a production reality, we can comfortably expect the Chevy Volt’s extended-range electric drivetrain to feature in this as well. Fingers crossed, then!

  • the problem with cars nowadays is that the tyres are so small so that fuel consumption could be reduced… looks like chevy solved the problem with 21-inch rims…

  • Just love the design!!!

Love the curves, the shape, lights, RIMs! All just seems too perfect for a coupe! Except…boost the engine to over 200hp please!

Looks fantastic (to my eyes) ! It looks almost like the car that I’ve been drawing on pieces of paper during my free time in the office. I like Chevys too so it’s almost perfect. Fingers crossed that GM will put it into production and priced it around Forte Koup’s price range :)

I never liked chevrolet cars but the tru 140s is just awesome! Its now my Dreamcar because its affordable with the 20k. My hp max is 200 so 150hp is good enought for me and for my citydriving i dont need a RWD. If they build it they get a New chevy user.

Nice design but weak engine, should have equipped a 1.8l or more for more satisfying drive if they really want to target the young markets…

This is my dream car as well. Really exotic styling, good performance and a chance to get awesome mileage. The engine is perfect, more performance could be gained with fiberglass or composite front quarter panels, hood and trunk lids. A 2000 pound curb weight could be attained. It would a mind-blower, exotic as a Corvette but as efficient as a Spark. That is progress!

The Problem with GM is that they show one thing and produce another. The Volt is a great example of this. The Concept Volt was a hot looking 2 door Camaro like sports car. The production model a 4 door family style sedan for my grand dad. If the TRU 140S ever gets produced be forewarned, it won’t look like this.
