A factory-standard Nissan GT-R has achieved a top speed of 294.8 km/h on the frozen Lake Baikal, taking the production car speed record on natural ice in Russia.
Located in the south of the Siberian region, Lake Baikal is the world’s deepest and most voluminous freshwater lake, with a surface area of over 31,700 square km. It is frozen between the months of January and May.
Two years ago, Finnish four-time world rally champion Juha Kankkunen broke the world speed record on ice in a lightly-modified Bentley Continental Supersports convertible. He and the car achieved 330.695 km/h on the frozen waters of the Baltic Sea.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Preve still clocked a faster time on ice
Yes! Fastest time! Fastest time to spin out on the ice!
Nissan got their priorities wrong. Every car manufacturer is downsizing and making their cars more economical. I think Nissan in Japan are as silly as Tan Chong.
How silly are they as they make a car as fast as or even faster than a Porsche but half of the price?
Porsche is premium but Nissan is not so Porsche worth it.
@frenzyaustin
Allow me to add-on, don’t forget, 3x the spaces. ^_^
GTR vs 911?
2 seconds slower, half the price, 3x more space (4 seaters, have boots space)… For a big size grown up body like me, getting out from the 911 is… lol.. difficult. -.-
Anyway, GTR is for upscale niche market..
nth wrong with their strategy..
Fastest speed to hell
Still less than the speed of Shuttlecock : 332 km/h
Let say if you are given a free sports car voucher worth 400k MYR plus free 10-year full warranty + service, will you choose Nissan, Audi or others? Recond is not allowed, nor is resale in 1st 10 years.
I will choose the honda crz, the look alone is so fast already, ahem..
You obviously cannot understand my question. I don’t know why people are so shallow.
Thank you, our new friend.
You obviously almost got my question, good.
The performance is quite contrary to the look. But get the Manual you’ll have a blast!
Damn, the GTR 2012 MY is still above RM600k, and the Cayman and Z4 are all still above.
Guess I’ll go for an 86, I don’t wanna race people, and a car that holds the tried and tested philosophy of NA+FR+Manaul is hard to fault, and the chassis set up is brilliantly.
But If that voucher includes used car, I will use it to fulfill my dream and get a Nissan Skyline GTR R34 V-spec
If GT-R priced properly, guess it’s clear. 400k I might go for a long forgotten monster. Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. Guess this might be the last Evo. It’s practical, It’s fast, and nice too. It’s looks like a normal Lancer so it won’t cause any unnecessary attention too. And after 10 years yoy sell it, it definitely sell well as it’s the last evo.
I would definitely go for an Evo. =)
Hopefully in a couple of years she shall be mine =DDD
Stupid question. Stop dreaming and go work harder!
RM400k, you can’t even get half a new GTR.
I’d like to see the behind the scenes where they are screwing around with the car, and how they stopped the car after breaking the record
Renault Megane RS 250 cup.
Damn… imagine the Attesa system fighting to keep the car in a straight line at that speed… the amount of corrective steering and torque vectoring and braking… amazing car…
Fastest tyre on ice = Nokian Tyre
335kn/h.
I just love the speed
so what? our speed limit is 110km/h
no matter how fast the car is, when it hit, you’ll die.
