This one’s rumoured to show up at the upcoming Auto Shanghai – it’s apparently called the MG CS concept, pictures of which have leaked online. Based on the MG 5 compact, the study previews a future crossover by the SAIC-owned carmaker, according to Autocar UK.
Notable design elements include the MG family face with its V-shaped grille, an aggressive-looking lower fascia that’s echoed at the back, side gills and twin central tailpipes. It’s a very angular affair on the whole, but the effect is profound – MG is definitely showing its focus on design here.
Word on the grapevine is that the MG CS concept may make use of a 135 hp turbocharged 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engine developed by SAIC, but as always, time will tell.
The last time we saw an MG SUV concept was at last year’s Beijing show – the MG Icon was an aesthetic throwback to the MG roadsters of the past. Read about MG’s most recent plans for the future here.
