Honda has set lofty goals for itself at this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. A total of 10 Honda vehicles will take part in the 2013 Race to the Clouds, setting a new record for the number of classes entered by a single manufacturer. The 10 includes cars, motorcycles and ATV, showcasing the breadth of Honda’s product range.

Even more ambitious is Honda’s ultimate goal of challenging for overall victory in the event. The fastest vehicle it will bring to Pikes Peak is a 1991 Acura NSX in the Pikes Peak Open division that set a lowly time of over 11 minutes last year, a long way off Rhys Millen’s record time of 9 minutes 46.164 seconds in the 2012 PPIHC.

Honda’s new big hitter in the entry list is a 2012 Acura TL that’s contesting the Time Attack class. A specially prepared Honda Fit-EV will take part in the Electric division, while a hybrid CR-Z is entered in the Exhibition class.

The company has a much better record in the bikes and quads categories, where it has won in numerous divisions lately, breaking a few records along the way.
