We know what you’re wondering: haven’t the new Range Rover Sport been unveiled at the New York Auto Show already? What’s this one doing all taped up then? That got us thinking too.
A closer look at the lower bumper reveals that this test vehicle is running a different set of air intakes compared to the standard car’s. It’s bigger, deeper, more squared-off and subtly more aggressive, which leads us to believe that there’s a hotter version of the Range Rover Sport underneath that camo.
The RR Sport’s top 5.0 V8 Supercharged variant already offers 510 hp so it seems silly to think that it may need more performance. But don’t forget that Jaguar Land Rover already has a more potent version of the same engine, tuned to 550 hp, that’s used by its ETO (Engineered To Order) division.
ETO has been responsible for exclusive JLR models such as the Range Rover Autobiography Ultimate, Jaguar XKR-S and the GT, XJ Ultimate and the XFR-S. Each offers additional luxury, performance and capability, exploring different facets of the brands’ personalities. Looks like the Range Rover Sport will be getting the same treatment.

Range Rover is the King of Breakdowns. In many overseas relibility surveys, Range Rover was the top of the list for the highest breakdowns and most unreliable car. They even won the award for the most unreliable car. You pay RM1 million for this??
Don’t so childish using people’s name and criticize others car. Shame on you. And you speak like Sam Loo.
village idiot detected.
These cars are silly to the core. Just a bit of luxury leather and wood panels, they hike up to Rm1 million. Their claim to fame is the fact the British Royalty use them. But the British Royalty got no choice but to use anything British. They also use Jaguar, RR and Bentley. But somehow, Range Rover like to capitalise on the fact that Prince Henry and Edward use one.
This is no suprise since land rover just purchased the hardcore 4×4 company BOWLER. So it will be their subdivision like amg to merc or m division to bmw. This will probably be called the range rover sport bowler edition.
As for the comments above. I am a long term owner of range rovers and as for reliability i can tell you that its no less reliable than any other conti. The older versions of the l322 with the bmw engine and air suspension might havea few niggles but current ones are pretty rock solid. But like someone else have mentioned if you want rock solid reliability you should probably just avoid buying a range rover if you can even afford it in the first place.
That has got to be the worst ‘test car camouflage’ ever. It hides nothing, you could actually see every lines on the car. Might as well show it, with real paint job.
The test camouflage that are used in the industry are supposed to be like this…they are made from vac formed abs using old or blank (fake) panels and screwed/bolted onto the exterior of the new panels! Believe me – this hides a lot.
