It was two years ago at Auto Shanghai 2011 that Mercedes-Benz unveiled the Mercedes-Benz Concept A-Class, which eventually became the new W176 hatchback. That was the beginning of a whole new range of cars based on Mercedes-Benz’s new front wheel drive platform – we now have the B-Class and the CLA-Class four-door coupe as well as various AMG versions of the cars.
Fast forward two years later and we’re looking at the latest instalment of cars spawning from the new front wheel drive platform. The Mercedes-Benz Concept GLA previews the upcoming GLA-Class which will go head to head against the BMW X1. Under the hood of this Auto Shanghai 2013 concept is a 211 horsepower 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine, mated to a 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission, powering all four wheels via a compact 4MATIC all wheel drive system.
It looks good and we certainly hope Mercedes-Benz will make the GLA-Class as a right hand drive because as of now the only Mercedes-Benz SUV sold here in Malaysia is the M-Class. The X3-rivalling GLK-Class is not available because it’s only made in left hand drive.

The exterior look is gorgeous.
The interior was designed in such a way to suit the sporty lifestyle of a loving youthful couple who just get married shortly before purchasing the vehicle.
It’s too much leather and bling bling chrome finishing inside like china made car, yuck!
It’s a concept car la dude… in production design it gonna tone down with practicality and reliability in mind..
Mercedes has turned it around, first with the new A class and now with this… I’m a new fan!
To be honest, it looks like ‘production-ready’ already. Good job Mercedes. This would give the Q3 or the X1 a bit of competition !
Very beautiful and aggressive looking!
How I wish I have the funds to buy one, when it made it into full production .. :-)
