Shanghai 2013 Live: Lamborghini Aventador 50th Anniversary – 20 horses more, 100 units only

This is the the Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 50th Anniversary that made its debut at Auto Shanghai 2013. As its name suggests, this special Aventador, which is limited to 100 units worldwide – commemorates the Sant’Agata Bolognese carmaker’s 50th birthday.

The lucky 100 rich men will get 20 hp more with this limited edition, thanks to a tweaked engine calibration – 720 hp from the 6.5 litre V12 engine is the final sum. Mated to Lambo’s ISR transmission, the anniversary model accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 350 km/h.

The front and rear fascias have been redesigned and the aerodynamics further optimised. The front air intakes and the aero splitter have been enlarged and extended, and small flaps set into the sides. The rear is very obviously all-new and features an enlarged diffuser and wider meshwork that further improves engine ventilation.

Overall, Lamborghini says that handling stability at extreme speeds has been optimised without impacting drag characteristics due to an increase of more than 50% in the aerodynamic efficiency compared to the regular Aventador LP700-4. That’s a huge difference.

The exclusive colour for the Aventador 50th Anniversary is Giallo Maggio (May yellow), a tribute to the most preferred hue chosen by Lamborghini customers since the Miura. Of course, this bull can also be ordered in every imaginable colour through Lambo’s Ad Personam individualisation programme.

Lamborghini says that all its cars built in 2013 will feature the 50th anniversary emblem in the cockpit, made from Forged Composite, a carbon-fibre material patented by Lamborghini. The glazed 50th logo is then applied by hand.

if you are trained at driving it then it is faster to 60mph, but if you are stopped and floor it normally, it will get to 60mph in 3.4 seconds. it also has a lower top speed, weighs 25% more, worse handling, and slower to 100mph.
