Shanghai 2013: Great Wall Wingle 6 truck revealed

If you don’t already know, Chinese brand Great Wall Motor has a presence in Malaysia, having launched the Haval H5 SUV and the Wingle 5 pick-up truck back in July 2011. Privately-owned Great Wall is a growing one, having saw global sales rise by 28% in 2012.

The Wingle 5 pick-up truck, which is also sold in markets like UK and Australia, has been updated, and a Great Wall Wingle 6 was shown at the ongoing Auto Shanghai 2013. The shape looks similar to the current truck (the small double-cab rear doors are a hint), leading us to believe that it’s more facelift than all-new.

The biggest change is up front, where the Wingle 5’s VW Golf Mk5-style fascia has been replaced by a much bolder face, featuring a large chromed grille and striking headlamps with projectors. LED DRLs sit above the fog lamps. Not the most original face, and it may not be a perfect fit with the old-school square-cut truck body, but the 6 does have more presence.

In addition, the Wingle’s wheel arches are now square, and rear section of the truck features some additional surfacing, as opposed to being fully flat on the 5. There’s also a Ford Ranger-style fake vent on the front fender, and the Wingle 6’s tail lamps have a new shape and feature LEDs.

In Malaysia, the GWM Wingle 5 is powered by a 2.5 litre commonrail diesel engine with 107 hp and 300 Nm of torque, the latter produced from 1,800 to 2,400 rpm. 4X2 and 4X4 variants are available, paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. Click here for details and pics of the Great Wall Wingle 5.

Much more better looking than the current one being sold here. also i think more good looking than d-max. It also got full rear wheel arch maybe the wheel base are longer than wingle 5.

    Hi,

Is that a motorhome add-on for the Wingle (at the backgrond of the 1st pic)?

I’ve just started to shop for a GW, and was hoping there would be an upgrade coming in the 2014 models. But does anyone know if these upgrades will be available in NZ?
