Mercedes-Benz SL gets dressed up with AMG Sport

Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 01

The sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class hasn’t been around that long, but nothing like some revisions to keep interest and momentum going. Some changes are afoot from June 2013 production onwards, with additional exterior appointments and more equipment becoming standard fitment on the SL 350 and SL 500, including an AMG Sport kit.

The AMG Sports moniker features additional standard equipment, led by an AMG Sports Package for both the interior and exterior, with 19-inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels, AMG side skirts and front/rear aprons as well as a body-coloured boot lip part of the parcel.

Also on, a sports suspension that features revised damper settings and lowers the car by 10mm and upgraded brakes on the SL 350, Lastly, the 7G-Tronic Plus transmission now comes with a ‘S’ mode and features modified shift points. Drivetrains continue as is.

Inside, new kit includes sports seats with perforated leather, vertical fluting and designo Platinum White Pearl piping on a variety of surfaces within the cabin. There’s also a chequered flag-design instrument cluster, AMG floor mats and black fabric roof lining in the mix.

  • To me..this generation of SL is a total flop in terms of design. In fact most of Merc design are bad except the current S-Class & CLS. I am neutral on the current A-Class.

That is why people are running away from Merc and go to Audi and Bimmer/Lexus.

I love the current styling due to its simplicity. Of course it is subjective but your take on seeing this as a flop might need a trip to the nearest optometrist.
