Honda Civic Hybrid gets extra kit, without the cost

civic hybrid

Honda Malaysia has added a bit of new kit to the Honda Civic Hybrid, in this case a Rear Reverse Camera and a Hands-Free Telephone (HFT) capability system. Both new features are integrated with the car’s intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID), so everything should be nice and seamless.

No changes elsewhere, including that of the price – the Civic Hybrid continues on at RM119,980 (on-the-road) – other than its country of origin as it’s now assembled in Thailand instead of Japan.

In terms of volume, the company is certainly looking at continued takeup for the car; it has increased the annual sales target from 1,200 units last year (from its market introduction in July) to 3,200 units in 2013, with a monthly sales target of 270 units.

Nice thought coming from Honda Malaysia. Now will Honda do the same for the new CRV and include HFT and parking sensors at no extra cost? Front and rear would be good thanks!

its actually a great move by Honda (not so good for buyer). They offer extra gadgets which does not cover the differences of the value it should be. Now it is made in Thailand instead of Japan. It should be at least RM 5k-10k cheaper. Smart move by Honda!

Doing good on the sales part to attract customers but HM also has to do equally well in the after sales. Their CKD line up is plagued with many issues, mainly cabin noise which is apparent after a year of ownership.

Plus who will forget about the famous Facebook case where a Honda Civic KO after 2km of driving from the showroom and HM refuse to take responsibility until the case went viral on FB.

I vowed never to buy another Honda vehicle after taking into consideration all the matters raised by myself above.

Ahem, is the other ‘Taiko’ going to take note of this or it still not going to Ubah!

made in thailand, wonder how much profit that honda malaysia made by selling it with the same price, and who knows, when automotive tax reduction starts, they will still sell with same price but only adding extra features, claims it worth as tax reduction value.. yet, their profit becomes bigger…

  • The Civic FB I’ll go for, consider the ICE powered variant is quite a disappointment to me, not when I compare it with its rival, but when I compare with its predecessor, the FD. The hybrid FB civic at least made some inprovement in the power train and also its 2nd best kitted while the 2nd cheapest in the civic range.

Now people will get a bit sour now that its made in Thailand not Nippon, but look at it this way, at least it is not made in Malaysia, *cough*Jazz hybrid CKD *cough*

  • No Civic Hybrid here since petrol is cheaper than water..the 2013 Civic just launched here are made in Thailand too whereas 2013 Honda Accord sold here are made in USA..City? you will be caught dead driving one…the sub compact segment leader is Yaris/Vios.

  • Yeap, Honda Malaysia = Bullshit Nuts. Therefore, pls boycott Honda Malaysia as their car’s quality are worst than Perodua or even Proton. To those that do not agree are maybe those that are lucky that their Honda cars have no problem and so on. Because my freaking Honda Accord and Honda Civic have more freaking problem compared to my Perodua Myvi. Sucks.

What the fuss about honda move to Thailand? The company got strategy to get their operating cost low. What’s wrong with that move?
Why u have to calculate the company profit margin la. Unless u got share in the company that’s a different story. Want high quality but ain’t going to pay more…
