Trailer sighted carrying Mercedes-Benz A200 and A250

It looks like the Mercedes-Benz A-Class is very close to its launch date, with Lucaz Koh sighting these trailers ferrying a load of A-Class and B-Class on the KESAS Highway.

UPDATE: The Mercedes-Benz A-Class has been officially launched in Malaysia. Read our launch report and view the pics here.

There are two different variants of the A-Class to be seen here on the trailer – the black car at the back of the top deck of the trailer above is most likely the A200. Curiously it sports a different alloy wheel design compared to the red A200 that we saw at JPJ Putrajaya. These new alloys look more interesting than the ones on the JPJ unit though, so it’s probably a good thing.

The silver A-Class at the rear of the top deck of this trailer is the A250 Sport, which has a more powerful 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder mill compared to the 1.6 litre in the A200.

Other than the sportier-looking bodykit, it also has a different alloy wheel design, which is identical to the sole A250 that we saw on a transporter earlier. since it first launched in year Q3 2012, wondering why late arriving in malaysia. let say by july’13 released in malaysia market, maybe after 2 years time brand new a-class will launch again in Germany.

then our a-class model validity become shorter and shorter :(

  • I year delay ma……I think its production issue. Demand for A-class exceed supply….obviously Asia will be the last to receive it ….

Everyone else will get theirs first….except Malaysia. Take a look at how long Honda Malaysia took to intro the the CRV here!

Anyway the A class looks good indeed but will only appeal to certain people. I would own one but only as a second and/or weekend car…that is if I had enough money to purchase one!

due to the odd amount of preve lovers in paultan comments, please don’t compare A-class with Preve hatch ): (or in this case, say it looks similar) haha.

It’ll be rm 160k after the 20% and eventually drop to rm 140k after the 30% reduction.

On an event organised by MB Malaysia which I attended, the new A Class will get 2 different engines but 3 different specs. SO I take it we will see 2 different A200s

for all the hype, this isn’t exactly the best luxury hatch you can buy. rivals like the volvo v40, bmw 1 series and audi a3 are better but i don’t think they are or would ever be offered here, pity. still, this is a pretty nice car and the a250 if priced correctly looks like good value beside the Golf Gti

  • A250 will be priced around RM 234K. While i think A200 will be priced around RM 200-220K. I think A 200 will cheaper than B200. Hopefully G will reduce the excise bit by bit. Not too much la, 20% of current priced is more than enough.

  • Thrashold for A200 is below RM170K. Otherwise piece of thrash for it’s price.
