Ninety years ago Bentley took part in the inaugural Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race and 10 years ago it achieved its sixth and last victory at the Circuit de la Sarthe. Just in time for the running of this year’s race, the British coachbuilder pays homage to both occasions by announcing US-exclusive Le Mans Special Editions of its Mulsanne and Continental models.
Six unique versions of the collection are available, each one inspired by the winning drivers from Bentley’s six victories at the event: John Duff (1923 Le Mans winner), Dudley Benjafield (1927), Woolf Barnato (1928, 1929 and 1930), Tim Birkin (1929), Glen Kidston (1930) and Guy Smith (2003).
48 examples of each ‘Le Mans Limited Edition’ model will be made, all individually detailed with bespoke numbered badges, Le Mans Edition clock face, embroidered Le Mans headrests, unique tread plates and wheels with specific interior and exterior combinations.
The black Continental GT Speed above is a Guy Smith special, while the white Conti below is detailed in Tim Birkin specifications. The green Mulsanne at the bottom is an example of a Dudley Benjafield edition, and the colour is the very shade Guy Smith’s victorious Bentley Speed 8 wore in 2003.
