BMW M235i Coupe sighted nearly undisguised!

BMW-M235I-SPYSHOTS-0006

My my, what a surprise – our spy photographers CarPix have snapped the upcoming BMW M235i Coupe almost completely undisguised, save for a bit of black cloth covering the rear. Looking at the amount of people as well as the jig arms around this red M235i, I’d say there was some kind of photography or videography session going on.

Even though the 2-Series range will replace the 1-Series Coupe and Convertible, the new 2-Series looks like it shares nothing in common with the new 1-Series on the exterior. This is not a 1-Series with a boot – the headlamps are slimmer, and the front end is sharper. It does share a similar interior with the 1-Series though, as we’ve seen in a previous spyshot.

This is the top of the range BMW M Performance M235i version of the car, which will share what’s under the hood of the M135i, a 320 horsepower version of BMW’s turbocharged 3.0 litre 6-cylinder N55 engine. You can spot the blue-painted big calipers behind the spokes of the M alloys.

It’s turning out to be a good looking car. We also notice it’s missing some of the latest BMW design elements such as that feature where the exposed sides of the kidney grilles meet the headlamps. There’s a little M badge on the fender instead of an air vent as seen on the 4-Series and the 3-Series GT.

If they’re already taking professional shots of what looks like a production car, the launch must be just around the corner.

Crap, the rear lamp only looks like vios, even persona and preve looks much better. It reduces the BMW prestige and RV

    • chill, there will always be entry level. Most probably Malaysia will launch 218i,220i,220d,225i. these are all cheap model. Dont expect M235i to be cheap.M235i will be priced at around RM450k when launch.

Nice, proportions remind me of an LCI E46 coupe. Definitely looks more balanced than the awkward yet charming bulldog stance of the E82. I think it even looks more dynamic than the upcoming F32 as well.

Too many BMW series name it 1 to 7.
8 series and 9 series on the way too .
Basically with slight changes on the exterior and head light and grill and dimensions. The so- called new series !!!!!
BMW definitely know how to re badge and sell their cars

They have to fire the designers. Very lazy to think new designs. bBMW wants money greedily while it’s basically same cars.

Can anyone enlighten me why won’t they just call it the //M1 and //M2?? Same with the ultra powerful 760Li. Why not just //M7??

The M135i and M235i is basically competing with AMG models like the A45/CLA45 right?? So why not just give em the //M treatments?? They cost about right to be the cheapest //M anyway.

True //M products (e.g. 1//M, //M3, //M5 etc) come under BMW M; they even have different VIN numbers than regular BMW production cars. The M135i (and others) are essentially BMW production cars with ‘an //M Performance trim/package’ so to speak. They are a step up from the //M-sport packages we’ve seen a lot in the past. These cars have regular BMW VINs.

I do agree it’s all in all rather confusing.

A parallel comparison can be found in the Audi line where you’d have regular models but with an option for S inspired trim packages (i.e. M-sport), then you have the S models like the S3, S4 onwards. These are now more comparable to BMW M Performance models like the M550 etc etc. And finally you have the Audi RS models which are a direct match for BMW M models.

  • OMG!!!! 2 series. such a beauty. if Malaysia launched 220i. Im definitely getting it. In future this will be the cheapest entry level fun BMW as the next gen 1 series will be FWD. btw, wonder when will BMW Malaysia introduce the current 1 series?
