2013 Toyota Corolla teased, to be unveiled in June

toyota-corolla-2013-teaser

We know that the next generation Toyota Corolla will be based on the Toyota Corolla Furia Concept from the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. A car that looked very much like the Corolla Furia with updated styling was also showcased at Auto Shanghai 2013 – the Toyota Yundong Shuangqing II hybrid concept, which led us to believe there will be a hybrid version of the new Corolla.

Now Toyota has released a first teaser photo of the new 2013 Toyota Corolla (or 2014 Toyota Corolla, depending on the country). The teaser is a fancy angled shot of a blue Toyota Corolla that reveals that the rear lamp shape will be pretty much similar to the two concept cars we mentioned, though appropriately ‘productionised’ – it does’t look like it has any of the Furia’s fancy LED light bars. There’s a red S badge on the rear of the teaser car, which probably means this particular car is a top of the range sporty model.

The new Toyota Corolla will be unveiled on 6th June 2013, but in the meanwhile we’ve already seen leaked 3/4 angle views of the front and rear, and production car renderings by Theophilus Chin.

Can’t wait for the full reveal. It looked decent for a Toyota in the leaked image. More sporty. Hopefully it will arrive in Malaysia at least by middle of next year.

    • The specs are more or less leaked for the US spec cars. The infamous 4-speed (yes, FOUR gears, try to control your excitement) will soldier on in the base model, while an updated CVT doing duty in the higher spec models. The only good news is that the manual gets an extra gear to a total of 6, but we’re most likely wont be having that in Malaysia. Engine in the states stays 1.8

It is already on sale in Australia – saw plenty of them driven on Melbourne streets. Gotta say much better looking than the previous gen.

    • that one is the Auris hatchback they took from the UK market….So it’s not the “real” and official corolla that we hv been waiting for …
By right, the new corolla will be launched in the USA first before asia, except japan…
according to reports, the USA might get a Valvematic engine…

S is used in USA market for its “Sports” variant. Usually has a spoiler and bigger rims.
Its not ‘pirate’. Car brands have been doing it for years. Just so happen Msia recently had influx of Ford/Conti new gen models. and they just so happen to practice this badging format – for the sake of simplicity.
It may sound very simple to do, but it aint.

Got a feeling the next Subaru Impreza design also a bit like this.Anyway pls facelift the Wish too.I wanna buy the 2nd gen Wish but the rear is just plain ugly. The older Wish look more nicer but can’t win the new in terms of features.I would go for the new Vios if not for the same old engine and gearbox.
