The new Holden Special Vehicles Gen-F GTS has arrived in the UK, badged as the Vauxhall VXR8 GTS. Order books for the brawny saloon are now open, with first deliveries at the end of the year.
The Vauxhall VXR8 GTS is powered by a new supercharged 6.2 litre LSA V8 (also powers the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1) with 576 bhp and 740 Nm of torque, an increase of 150 bhp and 190 Nm respectively over the outgoing, LS3-engined VXR8. The yet to be released performance figures will be great, when one considers that the naturally-aspirated VXR8 achieved a 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) time of 4.9 seconds.
The new VXR8’s Eaton supercharger has four-lobe rotors, 9 psi boost and 1.9 litres of air per revolution. Other LSA features include stand-alone water to air charge cooling system, separate transmission and differential cooling system, water to oil engine cooling system, bi-modal air-intake system and high-flow exhaust manifolds and exhaust system with bi-modal silencers.
Delivering drive to the rear axle is the latest MG9 spec six-speed manual transmission with oil cooler and twin-plate clutch. An optional six-speed automatic transmission is also available.
The most powerful production car ever to emerge from Australia is priced at £54,999 (RM255,871) in the UK. A lot of money for a Vauxhall? That sum is the least expensive membership fee into the 500+ bhp club, it is countered.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
beautiful and sporty car
sure or not..its overdesigned lahh
Hrm… Why I feel GT 86 & Viper there?
Interior nice~
If only our roadtax are not base on engine cc…..
Yeah, totally agree. Personally I hope roadtax is based on car weight + emmission. The heavier/dirtier the car is, the higher the tax, because it’s the only thing that matters and able to be compared equally.
That would be ideal.
It will also encourage manufacturers to sell more efficient and cleaner cars (ie. diesels)
I was paying something like CAD80/yr to the MOT for my cars irrespective of the CC when I was in Canada. My 2.0 NA, 2.0T and 5.7L all cost the same to be put on the road.
The detractors would say that petrol is more expensive (it isn’t given the purchasing power), but if you don’t drive much, fuel cost a moot point anyway. And since cars are cheap, you can have a big hp fun car to drive when you feel like it and a cheap and economical car for everyday driving/winter duties.
Wah..many like here…why when Proton do rebadged got many bad and unsupportive comment?
Becoz proton is d culprit tat make us driving expensive low quality car
Other people are downsizing, and here comes a behemoth 6.2 litres of nonsense. BMW, Mercedes and Audi are all downsizing yet increasing power, economy and emission.
Still prefer HSV E series design…F series doesnt attract me
