VIDEO: Peugeot 208 stars in a Wacky Races TV ad

Peugeot Brazil recently released this brilliant TV advertisement featuring a Peugeot 208 three-door hatchback getting caught in an impromptu Wacky Races encounter.

All your favourite Wacky Races characters are present – Dick Dastardly and Muttley in the Mean Machine, Peter Perfect in the Turbo Terrific, The Ant Hill Mob, Penelope Pitstop, Slag Brothers, The Red Max in the Crimson Haybailer, Sergeant Blast and Private Meekly in the Army Surplus Special, The Gruesome Twosome in the Creepy Coupe – faithfully reimagined in live-action form.

The Peugeot driver uses the 208’s key features (paddle shifters, panoramic roof, touchscreen multimedia interface and quick steering) to fend off the pursuing racers in hilarious ways, while the Pug’s natural good looks then wooed Penelope Pitstop herself.

It’s a great way to spend your minute and a half, especially if you have fond memories of the original Hanna-Barbera cartoon from your childhood. Well done, Peugeot Brasil!

If only we got the paddles too. Sadly the 4AT in the 208 is a bit “lembap”. Takes some time to decide what to do next, unlike the 4AT in a Kia/Hyundai/Honda. But if not its a cute and fun little thing. Especially that cheeky look at the front.

      I hate dim witted gearboxes.

The 208 is a fun, compact, perky, little city runabout. Spoilt by a slow gearbox.

I do like the 208 if with a stick, but the car is a little too small for a growing family.
