Range Rover Sport sets production Pikes Peak record

Range Rover Sport sets record at Pikes Peak

Amidst all the fire-breathing, hunkered-down monsters associated with the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb comes the new Range Rover Sport, which has set the record for a production SUV at 12 minutes 35.61 seconds.

Armed with 510 PS from a supercharged 5.0 litre petrol V8, the second-gen luxury high-rider averaged 95.23 km/h over the 20 km-long asphalt course, climbing from 2.86 to 4.3 km above sea level.

The Range Rover Sport was driven on the record run by American stunt driver Paul Dallenbach, who will also drive the 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe racer in the Time Attack 2WD Class. Dallenbach, 45, has won his division at Pikes Peak six times and won the event outright three times.

“There’s no margin for error at Pikes Peak – you only need to misjudge one of those 156 turns and you’re into the trees or over the edge of the mountain,” he said, adding that the Range Rover Sport is “fast, responsive and agile.”

Land Rover in Malaysia has virtually ZERO sales. So, if you go in and buy one, you are going to be ripped off cause their need your extra payment to run their buildings and pay their staff.

Zero sales, I saw Evoques nearly everyday. And are you from China? Please use your own name.

Lets see whether your Proton can climb the Pikes. It is still no 1 car to breakdown in Msia.

Nice review. Did you just try compared a MB to a Range Rover? Put it this way, there’s a reason RR is so popular among people with money, and it’s not just the badge.
