Toyota toying around with funky Camatte57s Concept

The two cars you see here are one and the same. They are just two out of countless custom varieties of Toyota’s new Camatte57s concept car that’s unveiled at the Kids’ Life Zone in this week’s Tokyo Toy Show. Why a toy show? Because the car is all bout bringing the family together in a fun way.

It’s not a toy; it’s a real car. A sporty, electric-powered, open-top family-focused vehicle to be exact. It has a great range of customisation opportunities, as the body is made up of 57 small, lightweight and detachable panels than can be finished in various colours, shapes and designs.

These two variations look nothing alike but they’re the same car underneath. Changing the skin to your liking can transform the car’s outlook from dowdy to funky, and it is also a fun process that can be shared between parents and youngsters. It’s designed to instil kids with the fun aspects of motoring from a young age.

It measures three metres long and fits three passengers. The pedals and seats can be adjusted to allow children to drive it comfortably, while an adult in the right-hand rear seat can assist or guide the young driver with steering and braking, giving children a head start to develop their driving skills safely.

UMW makes crap cars. For years Malaysians got conned with VSC taken out of their cars to save on cost at the expense of your life. All over the world even cheap Toyota’s got VSC. Here UMW take it out to gain more profit. They don’t mind you die on the road. You still want to buy from a company like this? Btw, I now sell Hyundai. Left Toyota. Kimchi pay me more money and higher commission.

We Malaysians, not Chinese/Bumiputra/Indian, all deserved safer cars. Nobody is fighting for us, if it is not in Manifesto PR, it is not mentioned by BN, no acuan to tiru? We want compulsory ESP and 6 airbags, if not seven; you can cut cost by omitting alloy rims, skirting this/that, tinting etc all of which can be obtained by slightly ‘richer’ groups. We don’t need these toy cars with minimal safety features.

Come on people, why a lot of heat / hate?

It’s a toy car with a working electric engine. A concept by the way. Meant to ‘educate’ young children on driving and to instill automotive interests. Would not think it would a road legal vehicle and usage confined to very limited area.

  • I am a Toyota owner. a very disappointed one. In not even a year this irresponsible company has put a new safety future to their brand new model making us first buyers (who made a booking april 2012 even before looking at the car 2012 ). Advice: don’t buy Toyota they don’t seem to be what they say.
