Nissan Juke gets revised 1.5 litre dCi diesel engine

Nissan Juke Bonita Norris

The bold and funky Nissan Juke‘s 1.5 litre dCi engine has been updated to produce 260 Nm of torque (from 240 Nm) at 1,750 rpm, return 4.2 litres of diesel per 100 km (from 4.8) and emit 109 grams of CO2 per km (from 124), while making less noise.

Enhancements to the powerplant include revised piezo-electric fuel injection nozzles, a more responsive low-inertia variable geometry turbocharger with a more direct and efficient air intake path and a closed-loop low-pressure EGR system.

There’s also a new thermostatically-controlled variable-displacement oil pump, reduced combustion noise, diamond-like carbon (DLC)-coated tappets and a start-stop system.

Changes have also been made to the gear ratios – 1st and 2nd are now shorter to give sharper low-speed response; the rest are a bit longer to better exploit the increased torque.

The Nissan Dynamic Control system now not only adjusts pedal sensitivity settings in Eco and Sport modes, but also limits maximum engine torque in Eco mode to 220 Nm.

Nissan says performance is unchanged (0-100 km/h in 11.2 seconds, 174 km/h top speed), as is the engine’s 110 PS power output. The revised engine will be available across all Juke grades save for the Juke Nismo.

The Nissan Juke is not officially sold in Malaysia, but several have been brought in by recond car dealers – we featured a 2011 example from Japan with the 1.6 litre DIG-Turbo engine on this site a while ago. See Jukes for sale on oto.my here.

Of course it is good, it’s a Renault engine.

IIRC they used an older version of it in the commercial version of the Kangoo.
