Federal Auto teases the Volvo V40’s impending arrival

Here’s the first official confirmation of the Volvo V40’s impending local launch, courtesy of Volvo Car Malaysia’s long-standing dealer, Federal Auto’s public teaser of the new model at The Curve last weekend. Yup, our stroll there after the Proton Saga SV launch nearby sure proved fruitful.

Regular readers would have seen this coming, as we’ve already featured spy shots of the Volvo V40 Cross Country on local soil last month. Our sources say it will be introduced in August (though some suggest a July launch) in locally-assembled (CKD) form.

Federal Auto only teased the Cross Country variant of Volvo’s new family hatchback – in top-spec T5 AWD guise, no less – though we predict that the base V40 models will be represented here too, pitched as a premium alternative to the Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI. Now that’s a competition we can’t wait to see.

I dare not buy any Volvo. went to the showroom and saw every part on the Volvo car with the words, “Made in China” on it. When Geely took over Volvo, they promised that Volvo will be purely Sweedish made. Now, typical China company, has lied to the world. Some people will say though Made in China still got QC, well you and me know better. We know the nonsense that goes about in China. So, are you willing to pay RM300,000 for a China made car? Those XC60 buyers paid over RM300,000 for their Geely XC60. Might as well pay RM137,000 for a Mazda CX5. Better to even change the name of this car to Geely V40

      this V40 is a category slightly below V50 @ RM185k.

Considering V40 is CKD + price reduction campaign started., it can be anywhere around RM155k.

      @ Australian, low spec V40 is 35000Aud up to 45000Aud. V50 is sold @ 45000Aud.

This is the top spec T5 version with all the bells and whistles and AWD included.

I think if they included the T3 and T4 version without sacrificing too many features then Volvo might have a chance to compete with VW as it does look very good.

Looking at 2nd picture..the meter cluster doesn’t look like LCD type of the new generation. I tot new V40 is going that route of LCD panel that changing color n element base on driving mode selection.

We hope XC90 can be bigger than Ninja King, solid as a tank with minimum 12 airbags. Volvo is famous for what?

Why are people even comparing this car with the CRV, CX-5, 3008 etc? This is a very small car! It’s just slightly longer than the VW Golf and is definitely not an SUV!
