Few cars are worthy of more than a few takes, but the McLaren P1 certainly is. Our European spy photographers caught this pair of P1s camwhoring near the desert rocks, giving us a closer, more realistic look at the F1 successor out in the open.
Other officially released photos of the P1 have either been digitally rendered, heavily edited or even covered in camo, so this is our best view of the real thing yet. Just that they’re not quite the real deal, as these are still pre-production units without the tighter rear mesh grille and front corner air ducts.
Nevertheless, it’s good to see the car bathed in natural light – the complex curves and intricate lines work wonders to make the hypercar appear as dramatic as ever. And from more angles too.
The two cars here differ in detail. One has silver wheels in stark contrast to the rest of the car, hiding colour-matched brake calipers while the other looks more understated with nude carbonfibre front bumper, ‘stealth’ alloys and matching stoppers. With McLaren’s bespoke department, you can have your P1 any way you want it to be.

beauty is subjective,i think its ugly for me,it looks like they overdone many parts.
Beside mclaren F1 i think it looks like a toad
Beauty is not even the priority in McLaren’s design. Manufacturers that prioritize beauty and art in their design is like Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin and Jaguar. For McLaren, their design philosophy is science. The body is aerodynamically eficient and effective. Every parts are important and works in conjuction with other parts.
there are beautiful ways of creating effective design, especially given the kind of budget they allow to play with
i don’t think ferrari design are any less efficient in anyway for example,if any,the deficits is mostly in the mechanical
But whether priority on looks or not….the end result is an ugly car,but it shouldn’t bother mclaren too much coz all the comment here are from people can’t afford the car
Of course there is tons of ways to create an effective design and I didn’t even say that Ferrari’s design is less effective or what.
But as Ferrari or Aston Martin designs their car based on arts other than aerodynamic, the McLaren on the other hand is designed mostly in wind tunnel. As a result, they have the most aerodynamically-advanced design.
As I mentioned earlier, they didn’t bother so much about having beatiful cars, because they are more towards engineering and science rather than beauty.
Oh, so if we can’t afford the car, we can’t bother so much about it? How about the engineer and designer in McLaren and Ferrari that can’t afford the car but yet they care so much about their car’s design? As an automotive enthusiast, me or you have the right to critic the car’s design or engineering but the understanding about the car’s philosophy is also important.
still better than preve..
yaaaaawwwwnnnn… boring rims
lol..all talk like very pro..but not even one of u can afford..lol
There is a fiiiiiiine line between being a pro and having knowledge.
Even McLaren worker can’t buy this car…and they’re pro…
and when one can actually afford this.. that doesn’t mean that person will instantly become a pro anyway..
in my way of looking at the comment above, when answering a question…objective is the key
my way of expressing
question : is the car beautiful?
answer: no,it looks like a toad
other way of expressing
question: is the car beautiful?
answer: mclaren priority is not on the looks ….ferrari..aston…mclaren design philosophy…the design is effective efficient every part is working with each n another…
*so is the car beautiful?
see my point?
no..lol..
