It may not look it, but the SLS AMG sports car is a four-year old design. Mercedes chose to leave it looking like it did since its 2009 debut when it introduced a raft of performance updates and tacked-on a GT suffix to its name last year. Soon though, the Mercedes SLS AMG will get a visual facelift.
From these pictures by our spy lensmen CarPix and Automedia, it looks like it will be a very minor update, involving nothing more than the car’s front bumper. Presumably it will adopt AMG’s new front-end design already seen on the latest E 63 AMG model. If so, how that will blend in with the rest of the car remains questionable.
The GT update last year already included a significant power boost for the 6.2 litre V8 engine (571 to 591 hp), faster gearshifts and new AMG Ride Control Performance suspension for improved driving dynamics. It is anyone’s guess if the facelift will add any more performance bits and bobs, but it sure wouldn’t hurt.
