This prototype car was captured by our European spy photographers around the vicinity of the Nurburgring. You’ll be forgiven if you think at first it’s some kind of Lexus CT200h prototype, but notice that it has a much higher ride height and high profile crossover-style tyres.
This jacked up CT200h is basically a mule for the upcoming Lexus compact SUV, which we could be called the Lexus NX as that particular name was recently trademarked by the Japanese automaker in various countries like the USA and Australia.
We know the NX will be an SUV-style vehicle because of the X in the name, just like the RX, GX and LX. Alternatively this car could be called the TX instead of the NX, as that was yet another SUV-style name that was filed by Lexus earlier in October, two years before the NX’s October 2012 filing.
The NX will be built on a front wheel drive platform like the CT, ES and RX, while cars like the IS, GS and LS are rear wheel drive. Two different trademarks were filed – Lexus NX200t and Lexus NX300h. The NX300h will most likely use a transversely-mounted 2.5 litre hybrid powertrain like the one found in the Camry Hybrid and ES300h. The NX200t will be interesting indeed – the t suffix very likely indicates the upcoming 2.0L AR family turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

it’s a toyota
Its really a toyota
why they should cover it, when mazda3 is out it’ll be outdated even before launch, HAHA
….YEEEESss..a toyota
I read that as Toyota NX compact SUV prototype undergoing tests.
So what?? Like a cake in bakery…they all look same but the taste is different.
it’s like a ct200h to me ~ =)
This is just a test mule, the body is just a dummy to test the platform underneath
YAWN~..
shallow, the big news here is the NX200t, with a 2.0L turbocharged four pot. If this is true, you can roughly see here that Toyota intended the turbocharged 2.0L as the base engine.
The Trekkie in me is amused by this name.
At 1st, I thought Lexus just jacked up a CT200h and called it a new model, but after I read more carefully, it just a test mule like the new Q7, it really gave me heart attack.
