Honda City E+ – the City VA gets a new name

city e+ 1

Remember that limited run variant called the Honda City VA from March? The Value Added, as it was called, was limited to just 300 units and featured a built-in GPS multimedia system, leather seats and window film as standard.

Well, the car is back, as a quick check on Honda Malaysia’s website reveals. It’s now known as the City E+, and aside from the moniker change, it’s very much the same car.

The black leather upholstery with grey stitching and embossed ‘City’ logos on the front seats, an integrated 7-inch touchscreen DVD player/navigation system with iPod connectivity and Bluetooth hands-free telephony, rear view camera and solar/security window tint film as found on the VA is all here, so only the suffix badging has changed.

Actually, the only change – aside from the variant name – is with the price, in this case by RM300. The City VA was priced at RM93,480 on-the-road with insurance, and moving on to the City E+ takes it to RM93,780, also OTR, a RM2,800 jump over the City E version. There’s mention elsewhere that like its predecessor, the E+ is also a limited 300-unit run.

The downloadable brochure adds that for RM500, a five-piece accessories package can be had, the items consisting of a ducktail spoiler, special carpet mats, door visors, scuff plate and a trunk tray, if such things catch your fancy.

Malaysians are so so so so stupid. Pay RM100,000 for a car that is globally quarter the price. No logic. You think the car tax goes back to you via LHDN or just to a few pockets? Think carefully.

    • Vios is overpriced for what it offers. Honda has introduced all 5 speed auto on all their cars which is more fuel efficient and powerful. Even the designs, Honda City feels more like a “premium” japanese car compared to Vios which is so old school, doesn’t have paddle shifters, iPod compatability as well as controls, small 15 inch rims compared to city which is 16 inch and stylish. City is fully equipped with what a basic modern car needs. Vios design is just so old that it makes it look like the old corolla. Best part, city has better resale value compared to the vios.

Guys please wake up!! in terms of safety vios nor city cannot compare with Altis and Civic remember these cars are designed and build by their regional company. In terms of safety i believe Preve or Inspira offer better value for money although they may be left behind in terms or buildd quality with outdated tech and terrible after sales. Kia Forte/Upcoming Cerato offers the best of both world updated tech with good safety features, the fc might be on the down side though.

Preve drives much better on highway, Japs can get lost, LOL. Oh ok, nothing to shout about since it’s a Lotus tuned legacy.

      True story.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 6
      • But in the end, the quality is still “Malaysian”. The so called turbocharge CFE just got sound, but no action. Try paddle shifters on City and fully rev it, Preve will go bye bye. Don’t compare Inspira as its a different class. Compare Inspira with Civic if you wish. That’s fair. No matter what, if Proton doesn’t focus on improving their cars and brand image, its still gonna be a typical malaysian car like Proton Iswara. Look at the germans and japanese, their proud of their national car unlike Proton though it comes with “Lotus tuned legacy”. Psftttt…
