VIDEO: Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak record run

http://youtu.be/4EsRyhxa5Tg

Sébastian Loeb’s 8 minutes 13.878 seconds record-setting run in the 875 hp, 875 kg Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak – which well eclipsed Rhys Millen’s 2012 record time of 9 minutes 46.164 seconds – may well stand unbroken for a good while.

The nine-time world rally champion managed an average speed of 145 km/h over the difficult 20 km, 156-turn Pikes Peak course, and ended up nearly two seconds faster than the theoretical time estimated by Peugeot Sport’s computer.

Nothing like video and onboard cams to show how insanely fast it was, and how supreme the Frenchman is – Loeb says he isn’t likely to attempt to repeat the feat and experience again, so consider this one a special moment, in more ways than one.

Got breakdown or not this french car reach the peak :p

Sure no resale value. Toyota 86 would have tapow this french car and can sell higher price after winning this peak race.

Loeb sure got the cahones making it from start to finish. it’s almost like experiencing Vatanen’s run with the 405 again.

tarmac or not, seeing the lion sprint on some parts with the cliffs on the side before coming in for the hairpin turns is simply exciting and scary at the same time!

      bravo Peugeot bravo!

    • Nope, no breakdowns. The nearest Toyota got was 5th place.

Those cars are race cars, so no issue about resale value regardless of Toyota or others. Not applicable.

If driver overshot the course nearing to the peak… this will be the best other description of a quote fr The Cars movie “fly away Stanley, be free…”
    Anyway, hail the king Loeb!
