This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed seems to one to remember, with a long list of attendees covering the old, the now, and the new. They can now add the new Citroen DS3 Cabrio Racing Concept to that list.

In essence, this is simply the return of the limited edition DS3 Racing hatchback (only 1,000 units were made, plus the 200 S.Loeb special models) but enclosed, or rather opened up, in the new DS3 Cabrio body. Bespoke Moondark matte textured grey paintwork, gloss black 19-inch alloy wheels and various Carmin Red and Dark Chrome highlights mark out the special open-top model.

Inside, the DS3 Cabrio Racing gets bucket seats with a DS watchstrap design in three types of fabric – Nappa full-grain leather, DS-embossed leather and Alcantara. Fun additions are the matching child seat and colour-coordinated rally helmets. The cabin is also equipped with Carmin Red bits and pieces, while the roof too gets the DS pattern in gloss weave with a carbonfibre look.

On the mechanical front, it inherits the DS3 Racing’s 202 hp turbocharged 1.6 litre engine, six-speed manual gearbox (a similar setup as the Peugeot 208 GTi), uprated brakes and carbon kit. It weights just 25 kg more than the hatchback version, so expect it to be just as lively and agile.
