Here’s a promotional video from Indonesia for the new 2013 Toyota Vios, highlighting features including its “catamaran shape roof,” remote boot release and new interior design.
What caught our eye is a rather premium-looking touch-screen in place of the standard radio unit – something we don’t believe we saw in the Thai-spec cars. It features a DVD player, internet browser, finger gesture recognition, drag-and-drop icons, M-Toyota app, wireless auto answer, voice command and Bluetooth connectivity. No mention of navigation, though.

A quick check on Toyota Indonesia’s website reveals this system to be offered only on the G-grade cars. Indonesia gets E M/T, E A/T, G M/T and G A/T variants, priced between Rp 242.5 and 272.5 million (RM76,360-85,800).
Closer to home, the 2013 Toyota Vios has popped up on our sister classifieds site oto.my, in regular and TRD Sportivo forms. An October launch has been suggested for Malaysia. Full information and Thai pricing and specs here, and a live gallery from the Bangkok show here.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Vios is the best car ever built.
Looks like UMW Toyota gonna kick out Proton as no.2 top car sales list soon!!! Ha Ha Ha !!!
Bisa pake trik Vios, dan sedikit komentar singkat yg di blod atau warnain atas rangkuman beritanya
gue juga melakukan penggabungan thread yg sejenis (sama materi), jadi bisa rame ndan
If they do, expect other car makers to remove safety features. Soon some cars will come without seatbelt in Malaysia, cause apparently a lack of safety features boosts sales in Malaysia. Toyota with good safety features: Poor sales. Toyota with no safety features: Great sales.
I gonna sell my f30 n get this vios instead !! Reliable! Fast and Smooth!
which agencies doing this vid??it’s like school kids doing this vid..
shut up and take my money now!
Your money or Bank’s money? you pay in cash?LOL…
sinKRONIsasi telefon dgn gigibiru….yes!
What a sore eye for an eyesight. I thought the LCD hu was slapped on the dashboard using black tape. Lol.
Oh yea one more thing, the footage was recorded using camera phone or what. Shaking and rippling like there’s no image stabilization camera phone. Sorry. Out of topic.
Record using potato kot. Honestly it is like they put 10% of their effort into making this ad. Someone somewhere actually approved this ad for airing?
I like how they photoshop the bags in the trunk rather than putting in real bags
Terbaik…
Expected price??
don’t worry guys, this feature will not see the light in Malaysia Toyota Vios launch. You will get a standard radio unit only, at most.
The placement and type of display for the aircon looks like it will be quite hard to read when driving the car…
Overall quite an improvement over the outgoing car though.
Yay, it has 2 airbags and… gasp, ABS! I think someone should have told Toyota this is not 1993. In 1993, 2 airbags and ABS were worth mentioning. In 2013 6 airbags, ABS and ESP should be considered standard. Anything ON TOP of that is worth mentioning.
Isn’t it sad that Toyota being market leader in sales only and not leading the way in offering more safety equipments to the car-buying masses especially the lower middle spectrum this Vios resides in.
All I can say is in the US a base spec Camry comes with 10 airbags. The Yaris/Vios should probably have 6 there. Of course ESP in all cars. The safety features exist, Toyota has them. There is no development cost involved, cause, well, these cars come with these features elsewhere.
Now it is up to consumers or the government to make sure the cars get these. Vote with your pocket. Hold on to your current car if you want to buy the new Vios, or buy a competitor. And let Toyota know why you picked a competitor or just don’t change cars. Tell them it is 2013 and you expect a European/US/Japanese level of safety equipment, like some of the competitors in the same price bracket offer. It worked with ESP/VSC in the Camry (poor sales and complaints led to Toyota upgrading it again). It would also work with the Vios.
What? ABS is for stability when cornering? What a misleading ads…Good work TOYOTA…keep it up…continue to slash people hard earn money….
You won’t believe how many people will just take whatever given to them. Why? Because its Toyota mah!
So now Toyota admits their cars are sucky in cornering. Even proton much better with Lotus (Proton) RnH, lol
what so big deal about the 2 din ? you can easily buy a cheap 2 din aftermarket … whole bunch of lousy useless stuff
yeah can get aftermarket unit easily. what we cannot buy later is the body rigidity, EBD, etc which is Toyota omitted in their recycled Vios.
Stability? Sampan has the best stability eh?
when vios come in to Malaysia… can become no spec with high price…
what to use gesture while driving ? useless nonsense …
LOL. selling at 96k with only 2 airbags and no ESP. anyway, idiots are still gonna buy it. because they said their vios can fly :P
Best car in the universe.
the vios is not a bad car…but the word “performance” in the video advert is a bit of a joke, some people may hv different translation of “performance” but using it on the vios (yester year vvti + FOUR speed trans), to me, is hmm..a bit of a joke
should i wait for this new vios at 96K or go for K3 98k. please advice.
don’t waste time with vios, it’s almost like an auto money generator for the T here. low spec, high price
And avoid K3 too, even if you have enough money to buy, you don’t have enough money to maintain.
Why dont use the USA market toyota entune head unit, its much better than this
I hope they bring this with ESC when it comes to Malaysia.
I don’t want one of these loosing control in a avoidance maneuver and end crashing onto other motorist.
Spec confirmed. No ESP/ESC in all variants.
I have the training material for the salesman from Toyota Malaysia and I know all the specs already.
really? then we won’t see somebody using justin beiber avatar here lol
To be fair this car looks better than the previous freshwater mammal it is going to replace.
If launch in Malaysia, expect only the shell is different. The rest all same.Whether its UMW tactics or forced to do so by the Goverment ?
I’m ok with Vios but to pay much dearer than Americans paid their Camry 2.5 for almost RM100k B-segment is beyond me.
Having said that if P2 can rebadged this Vios and sell around RM65k-70k with ESP is acceptable.
Funny, the ” Vios” on the front plate is not straight in the first few scenes. Also, Stability? No ESC nothing. Luckily they did not slip in the word “sporty”.
Its funny that they mentioned ABS as a selling point when ABS should be something that is in every car that goes without say.
Ain’t nobody got time to appreciate that “catamaran” roof in a vios. Might as well add in more safety than that. Seems pretty fishy in the marketing department.
The quality of this video is as bad as the car.
UMW will ruin this usual
I like how the internet browser section says “for browsing before you drive”. They should’ve underlined/bold the before your drive part. Hehe. Anyways, it helps prevent distracted driving although the passengers wont be too happy with that.
SMART CAR FOR SMART PEOPLE.
i feel like wanna terpancut already
