Kia to show B-segment concept car at Frankfurt 2013

Kia will be showcasing this concept car at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. We only have this cropped shadowy exterior view and one high angle view of the interior now, but all will be unveiled at Frankfurt.

It’s supposed to be a B-segment design study that will be used to gauge potential customer response for future cars destined for the showroom. Kia’s global B-segment car is the Kia Rio, so at first we were wondering if this car previews a next generation Rio.

We spotted a current Kia Rio design cue in the interior photo that was released – the four switch-style buttons you see on this concept car’s dashboard are similiar to the current generation Kia Rio‘s climate control control buttons.

However, given that the two large LED “spotlights” featured on the car’s bumper is a design feature that’s typically found on off roaders, it makes us believe this concept car most likely previews a B-segment SUV to go against the likes of the Ford EcoSport and Nissan Juke.

  • Aggressive! Kia’s and Infinity/Nissan concept cars are really looking awesome lately, this one really make used of Schereyer jewel lamp to full effect by placing it a bit to the middle, Alpine style . The Interior is that I come to love, simplicity. overall initial impression, fantastic.

    The headlamps seem cool.
    The foglamps, errr ….
Front legrooms seem limited, this is B-segment car, typical width 1.7m.

BTW, for KIA KV7 production version, if the seats are L-shape sofa, then there has be some form of extra protection against side impact so that the ones sitting sideway(longitudinal) will not immediately get hit by vehicle intruding from side.

  • Isn’t this the Nissan juke rival. It can’t be a b-segment car.

  • I must admit that Kia is really improving in terms of design. The current rio looks great, this one should be better. My last experience with kia was ages ago with the 1st gen rio which is really bad. Since then haven’t been touching Kia cars. Now, it could change.

Kia is moving faster now, also Hyundai, they have collaboration and eager to compete with other Japs and Germany’s car makers. Now they have my respect since Peter Schereyer join Kia. I feel it in my Forte 2.0. Speechless…
