Spyker B6 Venator Spyder Concept at Pebble Beach

Spyker B6 Venator Spyder-06

As promised last week, Spyker unveiled the B6 Venator Spyder Concept at the 2013 Quail Motorsports Gathering in Pebble Beach, California. This is the roadster version of the B6 Venator Coupe Concept shown at Geneva earlier this year. Both two-seater mid-engined sports cars are set to debut in 2014.

Designed by Spyker CEO Victor Muller, the sleek roadster incorporates vintage cues of the brand’s aviation past, highly detailed design and bespoke materials. The company’s Latin axiom “Nulla tenaci invia est via” – “For the tenacious no road is impassable” – is prominent on the sides of the engine cover.

The name “Venator” is Latin for “Hunter,” a nod back to Spyker’s “Hunter” fighter aircraft of the early 20th century. The aviation theme continues with the 3D LED rear lights are akin to the iris-type after burners of a jet engine. Also check out the gorgeous 19-inch Turbofan wheels in mirror polish finish.

The Venator sisters measure 4,347 mm long and 1,882 mm wide, with a 2,500 mm wheelbase. That’s about 144 mm shorter than Porsche’s iconic 911, but 74 mm wider. With an all carbon fibre body and all aluminium platform, the Venator Spyder Concept weighs less than 1,400 kg. It will be powered by a rear-mid mounted V6 engine with “375+ bhp” going to the rear wheels.

Production is scheduled to start in late 2014 for key markets including Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and India, followed by the US in early 2015. Said to provide the authentic Spyker experience – “hand-crafted rarity that is as visceral to view as it is to drive” – prices will start from approximately USD $150,000.
