Does DRB-Hicom not know how to make car ads or something? Proton used to have surprisingly classy and well-judged ads; this just looks like something cooked up to advertise computers in the ’90s.

It all feels so contrived; the car looks pretty sporting, and the name and the message from company officials certainly point towards the car being a sporty offering. Then they follow that up with a two-minute ad that simply lists the car’s features, set to “Just The Two Of Us”? This, that odd “Manisnya Senyuman” campaign, the boring Raya radio commercials, it really shows how much DRB-Hicom is willing to skimp on marketing. I know it sounds like nitpicking, and I know they’re trying to balance their finances better, but if DRB-Hicom is merely interested in doing okay and isn’t willing to make that last push to really get ahead in the marketplace (they clearly aren’t that willing to make their own customers excited in their new products), I’m worried about Proton’s course into the future.

The launching was bad enough and the commercial was definitely a surprise as it was even worst. Proton has never failed to amaze me how worst they can get.

Launching – “no car in its category can compare … blah blah blah”, yes if you price it at 80k you are comparing with City and Vios, but in fact they are only priced at 50-60k with no thanks to your import tax (which was made to protect local car makers, cause they NEEDED IT cause they were SHYT)

With 80k you can get a Honda Civic or Toyota Altis whose ass or dust you can’t even see with this car.

80k just for sake of “features”? Please… just stop

Proton has earned our hate is because you are not fight a fair battle – the people of this (can be great if it wasn’t for this) nation could drive GOOD cars for a affordable price but you go add import tax which make us drive kancil, and most worst = motorcycles (cause of MANY MANY MANY CRIMES AND ACCIDENTS)

This TVC is so wrong to feature Lotus handling and Turbo engine
1.) Song is lame – Just the 2 of us?? It is a year 1981 song,
2.) I thought the target for this car is young people who are sporty and trendy. But the ad features a woman fetching a son to shopping then go mamak.
3.)First feature being introduced in ad – a large boot space…. You come out with a new car and first thing you want to introduce is the boot space??

been following the suprima s right from the start and I think Proton should sack the marketing department responsible for marketing of this car.

before launch: no teaser pics at all released on the internet.

during launch: horrible choice of presenter on stage, bad presentation (unable to clearly single out strong points & benefits of this car).

after launch (ongoing TVC promo): bad TVC, they don’t do any homework at all for their target market. if this is for young execs, obviously they should put more emphasise on sportiness of this car (the S letter for the car name itself suggest Sports), so the choice of classic song is WRONG, get some energetic @ electro track instead like Pug RCZ ad. woman driver, kids taken large chunk of the video, wrong selection of car strong points, the flaws are endless. you just can’t seem to capture the heart of your target customer.

learn from merc A class & rcz ads and improve, or proton should sack their marketing team. they are affecting your sales, in a negative way.

just my 2 cents, I’m not a blind basher, obviously.

just watch this ad for comparison:

Today i made my way to see the car and i am impress by the workmanship, no design obvious design flaw found compare to previous models. I am almost lough reading your comments about the car, and the company. Please remember, you like or not most of the parts are manufactured locally, Among them is ACM, and many other small sub vendors are involved. And many malaysian are working for the industry. And most, foreign brand vehicle assemble here also getting parts from said vendors. Proton is not belong to a single person. Its a public listed company (meaning its belongs to people dude.

Been reading Paultan for some time. Am I the only one who notice that those who criticize Proton on their comments are almost certain to gain tons of dislikes aka thumbs down?

It really makes me ponder whether there are such great amount of Proton supporter having said that readers on Paultan should have a high knowledge on cars.

I mean like seriously, Proton lovers? HAHAHAHA

Great that you notice, most of them are either Proton fanboys, Proton employees or BN troopers cyber trooping around PaulTan. Don’t know how much they get paid though…

A note to Proton: If your product is failure, no amount of fanboys/employees/troopers can defend you!

      • What model is a failure, and describe one by one the thing you called failure.

Before spending 80k for this car.. Think of quality, after sales service, fuel consumption and torque.. Wise consumers have the answer.
