Completing the triumvirate of 2014 Super GT racers to break cover over the weekend is the Lexus LF-CC concept-based racer, which will be vying for victory in the GT500 class alongside the Honda NSX Concept-GT and the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500.
Again, no powertrain details or output figures have been let loose, but we do know that next year’s rules call for a turbocharged 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine that may be hybrid-assisted if desired.
The Lexus LF-CC racer, which effectively replaces the SC 430 racer as the Japanese carmaker’s Super GT entrant, had its shakedown at the Suzuka circuit over the weekend, where it was joined by its two rivals.
The original Lexus LF-CC concept first surfaced at the 2012 Paris show, serving as a crystal ball for a two-door Lexus IS (which we now know to be called the Lexus RC). The production model, like the production Honda NSX, is due in 2015.

Yay. Can finally say goodbye to the SC430. Have always looked out of place. Wasn’t it supposed to be the LFA though?
Its about time that Lexus replaced the ridiculously long-serving SC430 GT500 bodywork. With this Lexus LF-CC, maybe Lexus intends to relate to more mainstream model as the base car, rather than the limited production LFA model..
