Peugeot 3008 facelift to make debut in Frankfurt

peugeot-3008-facelift-7

Peugeot has finally given the 3008 a rather-needed facelift – the 308-based crossover eschews its gaping mouth for the neater corporate face, joining the others in the family. This one’s also Frankfurt-bound.

The facelifted Peugeot 3008 for global markets gets reworked head and tail lamps, plus extra chrome trim throughout and new-design alloys, which are available in 16- to 18-inch sizes. Changes are limited inside, but you’ll find new upholstery choices, a short and stubby automatic gear lever with a new surround and a flat-bottomed steering wheel with chromed inserts.

This is different from the Chinese-market Peugeot 3008 facelift, which has actually been on sale there for half a year already – that one has a different grille, headlamps, fog lamp housings and front apron, not to mention quite a bit of chrome and the addition of roof rails. The pre-facelift model was imported into China; the facelift is built by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture, and isn’t sold anywhere else.

Left: Global-market facelift. Right: Chinese-market facelift.

Back to the global-market facelift model – powerplants include a 115 hp 1.6 litre in e-HDi FAP and HDi FAP versions, a 2.0 litre HDi FAP in 150 hp and 163 hp states of tune, a 120 hp 1.6 litre VTi and a 1.6 litre THP in 155 hp and 163 hp states of tune.

The HYbrid4 variant sees a 2.0 litre HDi FAP (driving the front wheels) working together with a 37 hp electric motor (driving the rear wheels) to provide a combined output of 200 hp. This one’s capable of returning an impressive 3.4 litres per 100 km. The pre-facelift 3008 HYbrid4 was spotted at JPJ back in March.

I’ve friends who owns a 3008 and 308 turbo. After 2 years the cars always broke down and it could be in the middle of driving. I’m interested in Peugeot cars and I wonder how true is the event for most of the Peugeot owners ? Is it still persists in the latest models such as 208 and 508 ?

    • I’ve had the Peugeot 508 for over a year and had no issues with it at all other than the keyless entry and start losing sensitivity. Never broken down. Still as smooth as day one.

      • 1 year still consider new, better careful after 3-4 years and your car maybe will get ‘sick’

Dayum! These days Peugeot are really producing good looking cars like the 208, 308, 508, RCZ and now this 3008. Seems like pretty good alternatives over VW

Note to Petrolhead: You know a car is good if it sells well everywhere in the world, due to its solid reputation. Peugeots are not selling well. In fact the company in France almost went bankrupt early this year and needed French government support. Even till today, the company is not doing well. Thats tells you all you need to know about Peugeots

As I know peugeot 308 are prone to gearbox problem. Is that true?

Btw, I wouldn’t put peugeot as my first choice due to lack of service center and spare part availability. No doubt it still a good car. Just that its not a common car.

My advice is don’t ever buy any France car, pick the Exora as it just a reliable car than Peugeot.

I’m using 3008 and frankly speaking, it will be as reliable as Proton if you know where to send your car to service. Authorize service center doesn’t really PRO in our car.

I have friends who rushed out to buy the 308 and now the resale value has dropped to less than half, trade in values are even worse. New tagline should be: Peugeot for Life, because you can’t afford another new car.

Maybe not 50% so bad but at least drop by 30-40% after one year. I don’t know if Peugeot breaks down more than other brands, but general public seems to think French cars are not reliable, and that’s a fact unfortunately.

Looks can be very subjective, but personally I feel it looks much more better now. More coherent and natural with a tinge of high durability in its design. Interested in the Hybrid one as I think, strong may the Prince 1.6l turbo be, it is still some work to haul the bulk of this car.

  • If you follow closely with their Facebook page or visit the service center or the Peugeot user groups. You will notice tons of complaints from the existing owners regarding their car quality issues. And what worse, the Facebook admin just keep deleting the negative comments, post and following with banning the users for making further comments. Personally, I won’t trust a brand with no guts to accept critics

Yes, I believe they are also behind moves to discredit their competitors such as VW, Ford etc with stories about competitor cars breaking down etc.

      • huh? thought it was the other way round with the ‘competitors’ talking about the ‘many’ issues faced by peugeot. i have personally experienced this at both ford and vw showrooms.

depends on how one criticises. malicious criticism with bad and impolite language will of course get the writer banned and posts deleted. it is the same everywhere.

  • A sad thing about the 3008 is that iit has great features, awesome interior, very decent drivetrain, but just a gawdawful exterior that just resembles like a bloated pig….well the facelift did change that, not a much and still no looker, but at least is less painful to the eyes. not much can be salvage at the rear thou. The 5008, from a beautiful looking, european MPV, to THE beautiful looking, european MPV.

I guess there are many happy with issue free cars. They’re just too tired explaining to the critics who love to fixate on particular issues.
