Caterham Seven 165 – entry-level Seven gets named

A few more details about the entry-level Caterham Seven which is making its debut in Frankfurt in prototype concept form. The car – which will be powered by a turbocharged 660cc three-cylinder K6A Suzuki engine – will be called the Caterham Seven 165. A variant called the Seven 160 will be available for the UK market.

Turns out the little mill, after enhancements made by Caterham Technology & Innovation, is good for 80 hp and 107 Nm, paired with a five-speed manual. The numbers may not seem like much, but this is a light car, and despite the need to balance output against fuel economy and reduced vehicle emissions, Caterham says the base-form Seven 165 won’t be short of pure driving fun.

In Europe, the car will have a price tag of 25,000 Euros (RM108,000), slightly more than the £17k (RM86k) being asked for the Seven 160 version for the UK. Production of the Caterham Seven 165 is expected to begin in January next year, with first deliveries starting in the spring.
