Renault Megane RS Red Bull Racing RB8 – limited edition coming to Malaysia next month

megane-rb8-0001

The Renault Megane RS Red Bull Racing RB8 will be coming to Malaysia. Renault Malaysia, in a Facebook posting, announced that the limited edition will arrive locally early in the fourth quarter this year. Q4 2013 starts in October, which is next month. As with the RB7, only a few units will be brought in by TC Euro Cars.

The Red Bull Racing RB8 is a celebratory special to mark Renault and RBR’s third consecutive F1 world championship win. Based on the RS 265, the RB8 gets a special Crépuscule Blue colour inspired by Vettel’s race car. The front winglets, rear spoiler, door handles and side mirror covers are painted in contrasting Platinum Grey. Customary Red Bull Racing decals complete the special dress-up.

Inside, RBR branding adorn the aluminium sill guards, carpets and leather/fabric Recaros. The gear knob and red trim are new too. Bigger news is the standard-fit of new R-Link and RS Monitor 2.0 systems, features that are now available as cost options on the standard range.

A seven-inch touchscreen colour display replaces the old monochrome unit, and the RS Monitor 2.0 now has a much-improved user interface. A Red Bull Racing home screen is on board, and certain information can now be displayed in 3D form. Recorded lap times, GG diagramme and power output data can now be saved into a USB dongle.

Special editions are a dime a dozen these days, but the RB8 makes the hottest hot hatch even more desirable. We also reckon that this colour combo works much better than the black/yellow of the RB7, which was snapped up at RM243,293 a pop back in January. How much will this one cost?

Seriously less than a year they launch 2 Limited edition car! TC really make full use of “good demand” for Malaysian.

i’ve driven the RS and the 86, and while the RS was good enough to turn you into a touring car champion on the streets, it’s still the simple and effortless 86 that made me smile the most.

  • Looks really good..!!

But wonder how it will fare in regards to the other hot hatches in the local market. Paul, how bout a comparison of the a250, mkVII, focus st and the rb8. That would make a compelling read!

But anyways.. With all these limited editions coming out I’m sure a new model megane must be around the corner soon? This has been around for awhile now.. Hope it’s priced competitively though!

IMO, the Megane will defenitely out perform the Golf & Focus ST in terms of handling and accelaration. But the Golf and Focus is more practical and suitable for family. The Merc is wayyy more luxurious

Funnily enough this thing shares the same platform as the Nissan Sylphy/Sentra/Pulsar. Wonder why Nissan is sitting out on the hot hatch competition, since they can borrow everything from this monster.

Ah, TC still remembers that they are supposed to sell Renaults. Now they even removed the Renault sign from the JB SC… way to go. Want to scare away potential customers?
